The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Canada is hosting a "Connect & Learn" event in Vancouver on Saturday, September 12!

Join people affected by blood cancer, caregivers, healthcare professionals, and supporters for a day of learning, connection, and community. Hear from experts and individuals with lived experience on topics including:

The who, what, and why of CAR T-cell therapy
Mental and emotional support in the face of uncertainty
Managing brain fog, fatigue, and insomnia
A lived experience presentation from a person affected by blood cancer and their caregiver

The Aplastic Anemia & Myelodysplasia Association of Canada (AAMAC) and Thalassemia Foundation of Canada, with support from Canadian Blood Services, are hosting a webinar this fall focused on blood safety for the patient community.
This session is especially relevant for people who have been recently diagnosed and require blood transfusions, as well as caregivers and loved ones.
The webinar will explore questions such as:

🔬 What happens to donated blood after it’s collected?
🛡️ What safeguards are in place to help ensure a safe blood system?

AAMAC is proud to support research that advances our understanding of bone marrow disorders and improves care for patients and families.
Our latest research grant was awarded to Dr. Rena Buckstein in support of the MDS Research Program at Sunnybrook, advancing important work to better understand how factors such as frailty, quality of life, and overall health impact outcomes for people living with myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS).

The program is also exploring new approaches to measuring quality of life, real-world treatment outcomes, and the potential of wearable technology to better understand how MDS affects patients in their everyday lives.
