Apparently there is a new piercer in town doing this type of nonsense to people. Please be careful about who you get your piercings from. Make sure they have plenty of pictures of their work, including healed piercings. Not only is the absolute garbage jewelry they also clearly have no idea what they’re doing. The fact that they let this client leave the shop like this is absolutely disgusting. Spending a bit more for knowledge, experience and quality implant grade jewelry is never a bad choice. Stick with a reputable piercer who has a good reputation and who is always striving to further their education to learn more and do better. Just when I think I’ve seen everything, something like this crosses my path. So damn reckless and absolutely insane that someone paid for this butcher job. Be careful when choosing who will do your next piercing folks. Cause this ain’t it.😡

I’ve recently had several clients come see me for help with nose piercings they had done with a gun at Lovisa in the mall. I’m not even sure how they’re allowed to pierce through cartilage using a gun. Public Health Ontario specifically states that these guns are NOT to be used on anything besides the soft tissue of ear lobes. Still not something I would recommend but whatever. 🙄 Not only do they have no idea what they’re doing and have no way to properly sterilize their equipment but this is what they pierce your nose with! This super sharp spike is what you’re actually pierced with,no needle, using a device that’s not unlike something used to tag livestock. They then send that client home with a dangerously sharp piece of mystery metal jewelry in their nose. They offer no downsize or aftercare knowledge. I have had several clients who had this spike stabbing into their septum and bleeding. My most recent client came because her jewelry had fallen out. She contacted to see about having her jewelry reinstalled. They told her it would be less painful for her to just shove this back into her healing piercing than for them to do it. That is not what any reputable piercer would ever say to a client. Even if they never pierced them to begin with. Real piercers help you with your piercing. Let’s stop going to people who have no business piercing anyone. Do they know how to properly set up and tear down? Do they have any training in regards to bloodborne pathogens and cross contamination? These are very serious things that nobody should be taking a risk with. And they honestly aren’t really cheaper than going to a professional who uses quality implant grade titanium jewelry.
Please stop getting gun piercings at the mall. Do your research and go to a reputable piercer with a good reputation who uses APP approved jewelry. It’s so worth it!

Taking your kids to a professional piercer is definitely becoming more common, which I love to see. Why would you trust someone with next to zero training to use a piercing gun like they are tagging livestock? Come see me instead. Your kids deserve a better piercing experience by a professional.💜

I pierce a ton of kids here. I always book extra time for them and will never pressure any child to get pierced. I never know quite how it’s going to go. There is often a lot of fear/anxiety and quite often some tears. Conner came to see me last week for his first piercing ever. He was pretty nervous but did an amazing job. And his excitement after was so awesome! He even got a round of applause from clients in the shop. It actually made my day.🙂

Athena came to see me for a jewelry change on her helix that’s well over a year old (definitely NOT by me). It’s clearly unhappy and struggling to heal. This is mainly due to a ridiculous choice of jewelry by her original piercer. A curve such as this is appropriate for a rook or an eyebrow piercing not for a helix. I’ve never met one reputable piercer who would ever make this jewelry choice. She was also never advised to downsize to a shorter bar which is crucial after around 6-8 weeks of healing. This jewelry is also super cheap externally threaded crap that likely contains nickel. Please do your research and confirm what type of jewelry you are being pierced with. I neglected to get an after picture but I switched this out for a snugger fitting implant grade titanium labret with a CZ trinity from
She still needed some wiggle room for healing but we should be able to downsize this post once her helix finally settles down and is healing happily.

Just wanted to take a minute to discuss the absolute nonsense of these places in the mall offering ‘free’ piercings when you buy their garbage jewelry. I think by now most of us already know to stay away from piercing guns. They do not use a needle but instead a device that requires blunt force trauma to slam s**tty jewelry into your body, not unlike tagging livestock. The tiny amount of training these people receive is an absolute joke especially in comparison to the ongoing education that myself and countless reputable piercers strive for. They basically point and shoot with zero knowledge of proper angle, bevel theory, cross-contamination or blood borne pathogens. All of this should actually terrify people. Not to mention their ‘one size fits all jewelry’ with no room for swelling , drainage or aeration and no downsizing of jewelry. I stopped at this Lovisa store the other day to ask a few questions, specifically about piercing through cartilage. When asking about nose jewelry I was told it’s a straight post with a ball in the inside part. When I pressed further because I have removed their nose jewelry several times, I was eventually told that it is a pointy spike inside. Does this type of jewelry seem reasonable to anyone? The slightest bump of tap to your nose and this point is stabbing into your septum. This s**t is absolutely insane! Please do your research and respect all of the work and ongoing education that great piercers put into their craft everyday. I’m all for bargain shopping but perhaps with piercings we should draw the line. As always, if you get a messed up piercing somewhere, I am here to help if possible. But instead let’s all try to make better, safer choices and stop getting pierced by people who have no idea what they’re doing. You don’t even have to come see me but do your research and go to a reputable piercer who uses internally threaded or threadless implant grade titanium jewelry and has lots of great reviews. Piercing guns need to become a thing of the past.🚫🔫

Donna came to see me with her long healed helix(not by me). She was never told to downsize her post so once she started sleeping on it with that long bar it became quite crooked. She was wearing a large 6mm prong set CZ with quite a high profile. I forgot to snap a picture but the gem was pointing upwards and she wasn’t loving the look. Lots of places around that put absolute garbage jewelry in your piercings. Remember to stick with ONLY internally threaded or threadless as ALL externally threaded is cheap crap that likely contains nickel as well as little nicks and burrs that trap bacteria and irritate the piercing channel. Implant grade titanium, niobium or 14k gold are what you should be looking for. Even better if the company has been verified by the APP. Know more, do better for your piercings.✨✨
