Today, we’re celebrating the power of community in action 💚

A huge thank you to United Way Kingston, Frontenac, Lennox & Addington for coordinating Day of Caring and helping bring meaningful projects like this to life.

Special thanks to Jeff for building a new resource shelf for our Community Sharing Program. This shelf will help us organize and display non-perishable food items donated by our amazing community partners, making them more accessible to ILCK clients who need them most.

We’re incredibly grateful for the time, care, and effort that went into this project. Small acts of service create a big impact in our community. 💚

We’re grateful for the generous donation of menstrual products through the Period Promise campaign, led by United Way Kingston, Frontenac, Lennox & Addington, and for their ongoing commitment to improving access in our community.

Access to menstrual products is essential. At Independent Living Centre Kingston, we see how access to everyday necessities, like menstrual products, supports dignity, choice, and full participation in community life.

Big thank you's as well to our students, Alex and Heidi, for their support in receiving and organizing these much-needed supplies.

We appreciate being part of a community working toward greater accessibility and equity for all.

📢 National AccessAbility Week 2026 | May 31 – June 6

This week, we join communities across Canada in celebrating National AccessAbility Week and this year's theme: Building a Strong, Accessible Canada.

National AccessAbility Week recognizes the valuable contributions, leadership, and achievements of people with disabilities, while highlighting the efforts of individuals, organizations, businesses, and communities working to identify, remove, and prevent barriers.

At Independent Living Centre Kingston, we know that accessibility is fundamental to creating communities where everyone can participate fully and equitably. While significant progress has been made, there is still important work ahead to ensure people with disabilities can access the opportunities, services, spaces, and supports they need to thrive.

Canada is stronger when people with disabilities are included in all aspects of community life. By continuing to work together, we can build a future that is more accessible, inclusive, and equitable for everyone.
