Doctors at the Pennsylvania State University Children’s Hospital reported that grounding produced immediate and significant improvements in measurements of the autonomic nervous system (ANS), the functioning of the vagus nerve, and improved measures in heart rate variability (HRV).

The vagus nerve is the main nerve of the parasympathetic nervous system which is vital for keeping our bodies healthy and free from disease by regulating our immune systems, controlling stress levels, and reducing inflammation.

In addition, the offshoots of the vagus nerve supplies and regulates key organs, including the stomach, lungs, heart, spleen, intestines, liver, and kidneys.

Calfs…the second heart!.

Calfs…the second heart!.

Most people think your heart is the only organ responsible for blood flow.

But that’s only half the story.

There’s a second pump…

And it lives in your legs.

Your calves, especially the gastrocnemius and soleus, contract every time you:

• Walk
• Fidget
• Rise on your toes
• Flex your ankles

This contraction forces blood upward, fighting gravity.

This is called the calf muscle pump. It sends blood from your legs back to your heart.

This is known as venous return circulation. And it keeps your veins healthy and your heart supported.

WHAT HAPPENS WITHOUT IT?

If your calves don’t move often enough, blood pools in your legs. This can lead to:

• Swollen feet and ankles
• Tired, heavy legs
• Deep vein thrombosis (DVT)
• Long-term vascular damage

WHY IT’S CALLED THE SECOND HEART?

Because it performs a circulatory function, just like your heart.

Your calves literally pump blood, helping your heart do less work.

It’s your built-in support system.

WHO THIS AFFECTS MOST
• Desk workers
• People with limited mobility
• Standing desk users
• Travelers (long flights/drives)
If this is you → keep reading…

SIMPLE MOVES LIKE:
• Toe raises
• Ankle pumps
• Walking breaks every hour
• Calf stretches

All keep the calf pump strong and active.
Just 5 minutes a day helps.

You don’t just train calves for size, you train them for circulatory health.

Support your heart.

Move your second heart.
