Q: Why am I exhausted even though I get a good night’s sleep each night?

A: Many women in menopause feel frustrated by constant fatigue, even when they are sleeping through the night. The truth is that menopause can affect energy levels in several ways beyond just how much sleep you are getting.

Hormonal changes during menopause can impact how your body regulates energy, blood sugar, and inflammation, as well as mood and metabolism.

Nutrition can play an important role. Not eating enough protein, skipping meals, undereating, eating too many processed sugary or salty foods, or missing key nutrients like iron, magnesium, vitamin D, and B vitamins can leave you feeling drained throughout the day.
