Gentle Flow - WED 7 pm

Mama blessings🤎

I always gift the mama to be with a new journal where each of the sisters invited can write to her a special letter or poem or whatever their heart has to say to her🤎 it is one of my favourite parts about the blessings🥹 holding mamas in a sacred place before they enter the portal is so deeply important🕯️
First mama blessing of the month coming up tomorrow. Such a blessing to hold this space and love🫶🏽

Yesterdays sky when I arrived to a beautiful mamas house for her mama blessing🤍 38wks of blooming beauty🥹
It was one of the most beautiful ceremonies I’ve attended her sisters were vulnerable in their words and emotions letting her know they are here for her and holding the most beautiful space and wisdom for her as she nears the birthing portal♥️ so proud of this mama and everything she has overcome to continue forth in her journey to motherhood once again.
It’s such an honour and privilege when mamas trust for me to hold space for them.

Hello ladies! I hope your summer has been filled with many moments of joy, tranquility with the essence of summer and all that it offers!

Mid August begins to hint at signs of fall and with that, the start of our fall yoga session!

In addition to my classes, Maggie will be offering Yin Yoga on Mondays at 7:30 pm for six weeks starting Sept 11. Contact her at 780-520-5011 for more info or to register.

Yin. It’s the movement that makes your body feel at home. Postures that help to bring in your deep femininity, allowing you to sink deeper into a state of wellbeing and slowness. As we begin to shift from summer to fall this season calls for slowness, making yin the perfect practice. In yin we hold our postures for 3-5minutes allowing for a deep stretch in the tissues. Really working into those spots of unease in a slow, peaceful way. The point of yin isn’t to feel pain in the stretch but to get into your sweet spot and breathe into it.
I will also be offering a massage component that you can opt in or out of each week. While in postures I will come around and offer gentle massage to your head, neck, shoulders and/or back. Helping you to come into a state of relaxation.
It’s always an honour to hold you in your practice and for you to hold me in mine🙏🏽

Finding the space, in both body and time. Opening your heart and sinking deep into the nourishment of movement. It’s time to bring our focus back inwards. As the seasons begin to shift our body’s start to slow down and recognize the need for relaxation and restoration in the mind & body.

We are extremely grateful to be offering a fall yoga session that will allow nourishment and expansion within each of the women who decide to share the collective energy of yoga with us.

This! Our midwives are so amazing at allowing you to remember that you and your body know what to do, you just have to trust it🙏🏽

I’m for ever grateful for the two of them in holding space as I birthed both of my babies into this world. I would never want/ trust anyone else to witness me in this special time.

It is so important to find the people you love and trust to attend your birth. They have a huge impact on it.

It has been quite a while since I have written anything here… mainly because I have been feeling tired, discouraged and didn’t really feel like I had much to say.

I often tell my clients that birth is 90% mindset and only 10% physical. Truly the only four walls that matter are the walls in your head.

Over the past 6 months it feels like it has been hard to be a rural midwife. As much as things were going really well in the beginning ( let’s say the first 6 months) when we didn’t have OR and therefore no epidural or c-section capabilities. Women were coming in scared and confused and disappointed by the state of our situation but somehow after several discussions, by the time the BIG day came around most of these women had made a complete 360 and had been through an inner transformation- ready to take on the world and ready to birth in our community regardless of c-section capabilities and lack of epidural because they knew that if we saw 1 flag, we had a plan to transfer safely. Many of them were first time moms… and most of them ( already being low risk) went on to have a safe, empowering, healthy delivery at home or close to home.

The last six months, for some reason, that we cannot put our finger on have definitely become more challenging.

We’ve seen more high risk situations pop up during pregnancy or just prior to the birth. We’ve gotten more abnormal ultrasound reports than ever before ( even though -THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT TO NOTE- in the end, nothing was actually wrong. People are turning to and trusting in technology, more than they are trusting their own instincts, they are forgetting that they are their baby’s best monitor. They are forgetting how incredibly strong and resilient they truly are. They are giving their power away and thinking that they cannot do this without a hospital that has an OR. Consequently, our transfer rate has never been this high, and if I’m being honest, most of these transfers have been unnecessary. Many transfers were related to mindset- fear has been steering many families’ decisions, which has been disheartening for us as practitioners who deeply and intrinsically believe that birth is a natural physiological process, not an ailment that needs to be ‘taken charge of or controlled’.

It has been a very heavy six months for the morale, but on the bright side, somehow, despite the state of the world, people in our area are still hanging onto hope, and are consistently procreating. We still have a nice list of beautiful healthy babies on our board, most of them were not born in our community but some of them were and for that we remain proud that we are still standing and offering a very important service in our low resource county. We are also proud to be offering thorough, thoughtful, safe prenatal and postnatal care to those who choose to birth elsewhere.

Thank you to our communities for the continued support, we couldn’t do it without you. A special shout out to the Plamondon quilting club who have been donating quilts for our tiny clients. A lot of time and effort and love goes into every stitch and they are greatly appreciated.

Here’s to hoping that after a rough start to the summer with many flames, and literally and metaphorically ‘putting out fires everywhere’ that we can enjoy some beautiful summer days ahead, wishing you all love and light for the rest of July and August. Here are our Tree de la Vie Babies until May. We will post all of the summer babies in the fall 🍁💖
