Today, I would like to showcase Rose. We met last May when she was out for a walk and came across my outdoor fitness class when I was hosting them in a park.
I gave her a card and invited her to join us.
At her first class, she let me know that she had lower back pain, a bad knee, and sore wrist issues. This happens to many of us after 50.
Ok, challenge accepted!
I offered her modifications and options that she felt comfortable with, and Rose started showing up week after week.
When the outdoor group season ended, she signed up for weekly personal training sessions with me. This gave me a chance to really design programs that were very specific to Rose and her requirements. Over the past year, we have been working on heavier lifting with progressive overload. Her plank abilities increased from 20 seconds to 3 minutes, giving me a run for my money because I always joined her for encouragement. Some days, her upper body lifts are heavier than mine, which is amazing because I love a challenge, and it pushes me to go harder in my own sessions.
Last night, Rose came out for her first outdoor class of the season. It took me back to a year ago when she first started and made me so proud to see how far she has come. No more joint pain or limitations. Nothing but strength and power. 🏋‍♀️💪
