1. Carbs make you fat:
Carbs aren’t the enemy. They’re an important source of energy, especially when you’re active. The goal isn’t to fear carbohydrates—it’s to choose quality sources, pair them with protein + fiber, and pay attention to portions that support your body.
2. You need to eat every 2 hours:
Not necessarily. Most people can thrive on 3 balanced meals a day without constantly grazing. Giving your digestive system a break between meals can also help you tune back into actual hunger instead of eating simply because food is available.
3. Healthy eating has to be expensive:
It really doesn’t. Beans, lentils, eggs, oats, frozen vegetables, potatoes, rice, canned fish, seasonal produce and simple whole foods can be incredibly affordable. Healthy eating is more about how you build your meals than buying the fanciest “health foods.
4. You need to detox:
Your body already has systems designed to do this job—primarily your liver, kidneys, digestive tract and lungs. You don’t need a juice cleanse or restrictive detox to “flush out toxins.” You need to support your body with adequate nutrition, hydration, fiber, sleep, movement and consistency. Not saying a good reset is a bad idea - I’m just saying starting with the above is more important.
5. You have to be perfect Monday–Friday:
Nope. Your health isn’t determined by five “perfect” days followed by two days of guilt. It’s built through what you do consistently over time. Have the pizza. Go out for dinner. Enjoy the birthday cake. Then come back to your normal habits at the next meal. 🫶🏻
Don’t overcomplicate it.
