How can our Mayor be allowed to avoid development applications or heritage permits?

If Mayor Woodward applied for a 2 storey building with 40+ units and got approval, he should have to stay within those parameters.

I don't understand how a project can receive a heritage permit as a much smaller development (2 storey -40+ units) and then grow into a 76-unit, three-storey building without a new heritage review.

It appears the increased density was approved after the original heritage approval, creating a project far larger than what residents initially understood. Many people are asking whether the rules are being applied fairly when a developer who is also the Mayor stands to benefit from decisions affecting his own properties.

If this concerns you, please share this petition. Fort Langley's historic and quaint downtown core is worth protecting.

One of the biggest projects we are watching very closely is the Glover Rd, Mary St, Church St project in Fort Langley, the birthplace of BC. Referred to locally as GloverMaryChurch as it encompasses all the property between these streets..combined.

It is a huge, open green space in the heart of downtown Fort Langley. It was the location for the popular Fort Langley Night Market up until 2024 hosted by the Fort Langley Project.

📍 What is the issue?

The development project was originally approved as a much smaller development (47 residential units). When the developer (Mayor Eric Woodward) changed the plans from 47 units to 76 units, the Township merely extended the OLD heritage permit instead of requiring a new review for the entirely new plans.

‼️ Did we mention the original plan was a 2 storey building and the new plan is now a 3 storey building? 😳

Residents are very concerned that a larger project should require a new heritage review to ensure Fort Langley’s historic character is properly protected. If this project is allowed to proceed under Mayor Eric Woodward without proper attention to heritage respect and responsibilities, it could set a dangerous precedent for other heritage sites in communities across British Columbia.

⚠️ Read more and please SIGN the petition below ⬇️.

We are asking council to:

✅ Revisit the GMC Heritage Alteration Permit
✅ Impose stronger design requirements
✅ Require further independent heritage reviews

💕 For the love of Fort Langley, please share 💕

My over wintered kale grew these gorgeous yellow blossoms, after enjoying them in the kitchen for a week, I shook off the petals to make this glorious jar of yellow edible confetti! No IDEA what they will be used for but what a stunning little jar of sunshine! ☀️ 💛

Knowing that Mayor Woodward created the CAC fiasco, lost his CAC battle in court, dropped his appeal in court this week and then had the nerve to ask Kim how SHE was going to fix his mess should be enough for ANY Langley resident to vote for the Langley Strong team in October.

Also if you want to follow council meetings but don't have the time to log in live each month or the capacity to go through the meeting minutes to try and understand the jargon......

Check out this fantastic new website that breaks it down for you, simple terms, easy to follow dialogue and highlights minus the blah-blah.

My daughter’s best friend and her partner lost their home to a housefire last night, barely escaping through a broken window.

Sadly, they lost everything, including their 2 beautiful pets. The family vehicle and all their personal belongings were also lost in the fire.

If you’re in position to be able to donate, please do. Sharing this post also helps get it to people who can financially help, your generosity is greatly appreciated.

🙏 xxooo

Hey Langley, please don’t be fooled by the snazzy little videos of our current Mayor; trying desperately to keep his job.

His sparkly new videos are a flashy distraction from the truth, not to mention he cut off ALL comments so nobody can ask questions or debate any of his statements on Facebook OR on Instagram - he deletes comments he doesn’t like or just ignores them.

It’s called machine-gun marketing. A one way road that bombards you with his stories, leaving no room for dialogue, debate, discourse or questioning. Just his fan club (or perhaps fake accounts?) making comments fluffing up his ego with their false praise.

Don’t fall for it.

‼️ October 17,2026, please vote for a new Mayor without a slanted slate and 100% financial transparency.

**Updated April 13, 2026 - the developer has been extremely responsive and respectful enough to send over documents pertaining to this development over the weekend. The petition has been updated with the links to his documents pertaining to Waste Water and Design plans. You can view them on the original petition link. (Thank you Tim Bonktes, from Infiniti Properties for the kind and thorough approach to our concerns, it is refreshing to see professionalism and respect in local politics, regardless of what side we are on).
..........
🚨 - TOL Council Meeting is Monday April 14, 2026, we need to submit our letter and petition Monday morning**

Residents of the Hopington and Salmon River Uplands area of Langley are already living with arsenic, manganese, and iron in their well water above safe health limits. Wells are failing. Water pressure is dropping. Some families have spent thousands drilling deeper wells and purchasing extremely expensive filtration systems, just to access safe water.

Now, Infinity Properties Ltd. is seeking approval to build 58 new single-family homes in our area — each with its own in-ground septic system — on land sitting above the same vulnerable aquifers we already depend on.

The Township of Langley's own Water Management Plan acknowledges our 2 Hopington aquifers have been declining for decades. Council staff have recently acknowledged the Hopington area is serviced by poor and vulnerable aquifers. Yet the staff report for RZ100637 recommending approval does not confirm that safe municipal water will be provided, and does not assess what 58 NEW septic systems will do to our already contaminated groundwater.
