💣 Mayor Woodward: Show us your evidence.

In a recent video, Mayor Eric Woodward makes an extraordinary claim about previous Township politicians:

“…they didn’t do it (collect CAC fees) because the developers were funding their campaigns.”

He’s suggesting elected officials made decisions because developers were financing their campaigns.

There’s a problem with that narrative.

Elections BC states:

“Organizations cannot make campaign contributions or reimburse individuals for making campaign contributions.”

And individuals can’t simply funnel corporate money into a campaign either:

“Campaign contributions cannot be made indirectly with the money or property of another person, or be reimbursed by another person.”

💰Then there are the contribution limits.

⭐️In the 2022 municipal election, an individual was limited to $1,250 per campaign.

⭐️In 2026, that limit is $1,429.70.

⭐️And contributions of $100 or more are publicly disclosed, including the contributor’s name and amount.

Dear Eric, let’s stop speaking in vague, defensive maneuvers and accusations and answer a few questions:

1️⃣ Which developers were “funding” these campaigns?

2️⃣ Which politicians received the money?

3️⃣ How much did they receive?

People connected to development companies are allowed to donate their own personal money, just like other eligible B.C. residents. But that’s a very different statement from telling the public that “developers were funding their campaigns” and implying that politicians acted because of it.

If you have evidence of prohibited corporate donations, reimbursed contributions or other improper financing, produce it.

If you’re talking about perfectly legal, capped and publicly disclosed individual donations, then residents deserve to know that too.

The fact that you yourself are involved with several lawsuits also involving developers, gives the connotation that perhaps you’re implying your litigation opponents were involved in this.

You don’t get to imply politicians were bought and paid for by developers and then skip the evidence.

The rules and the donations are public.

Show us the receipts, Mayor Woodward.

Is our Mayor mentally ok? He seems to think he is above the B.C. Supreme Court ruling against him.

Feeling concerned and compelled to
speak out as his recent posts are becoming increasingly unhinged and so bizarre it warrants scrutiny and sharing.

👀 For anyone wanting to do backstory on this, the 2 court documents are publicly available on the Supreme Court database.

1️⃣ The first one being the BC Supreme Court ruling in the case against Mayor Woodward and the Township regarding CAC fees. The court ruled that they were not legal, and the Township could no longer use this fee model structure. This is the fee structure that Woodward is so vehemently determined to use, and downplay and ridicule the court decision against it.

2️⃣ The 2nd court document is the local, well known Martini Family suing Eric Woodward for defamation after his CKNW radio interview a couple weeks ago for defamation. That interview also is available online on the CKNW website. (if you want me to send you the links DM me.)

👀 which brings me to today. Somehow the mayor is turning this lawsuit into a political campaign, claiming that the Martinis are just money hungry, and that somehow he is ‘protecting Langley families, seniors and children from them.”

Seriously?

For those of you that don’t know, the Martini family with their multitude of successful businesses, have locally donated to Langley on enormous scales. Have you seen the name on the emergency Dept. renovated wing at the Langley Memorial Hospital? They donated $5 million to that project to ensure that it happened. There are many other projects that they participate in and donate to, both locally and globally. With their locally based nonprofit saving over 200,000 children’s lives overseas in countries like Ethiopia, Malawi, South Sudan and the DRC. They send shipping containers of life-saving peanut paste called Ready-to-use Therapeutic Paste (RUTF) to children under the age of five who are on the brink of death.

Does that sound like a family trying to skim on CAC fees?

Hardly.

Eric Woodward, shame on you, you are the first to sue anybody who doesn’t agree with you or approve of your tactics, and here you are trying to deflect and pass blame for a situation that YOU caused. (I seem to recall you suing the previous Mayor as well, Jack Froese so your ‘poor me’ game does not fly. )

Pretending that this lawsuit is about money shows more about you than it does anything else. The simple fact you cannot take responsibility for your own actions and behaviors underlines the fact that you are not capable of stewarding your own life properly, and should therefore not be stewarding anybody else’s, including the Township’s future.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Langley Township, please get out and vote in October, we cannot afford another term with this Mayor making a mockery of everyone and everything that stands in his way. This includes his DENIAL that he lost his CAC fee legal case to the Martinis in court; a BC Supreme Court ruling won’t even stop him.

Does that sound like the type of Mayor we want?

No.
