Eight years ago, PBG BioPharma was founded by Dr. Jacqueline Shan with a clear goal: to build a pharmaceutical-standard cannabinoid company based on science, quality, and innovation.

The journey has not been easy. The industry has gone through market shifts, regulatory complexity, COVID-19, financial pressure, and the challenges of building in a young and evolving sector.

Through it all, our focus has remained the same.

Live Resin vs. Live Rosin: Why the Processing Method Matters？

The names sound similar, but the processing routes are very different.

★ Live resin is generally produced from fresh or fresh-frozen cannabis using solvent-based extraction. Keeping the plant material cold helps preserve more of its original volatile compounds, including terpenes.

☆ Live rosin is produced without extraction solvents. Instead, heat and pressure are used to separate the resinous material.

For manufacturers, the choice of process can affect cannabinoid and terpene profiles, purity, downstream processing, formulation options, scalability, and quality-control requirements.

There is no single method that fits every application. The right approach depends on the starting material, target profile, intended product, scale, and regulatory requirements.

At PBG BioPharma, we approach cannabis processing from a pharmaceutical manufacturing perspective, with in-house capabilities spanning cryogenic ethanol extraction, winterization, distillation, purification, crystallization, formulation development, and GMP manufacturing.

For us, extraction is only the beginning. Process control matters at every stage.
