A Nordic transition into autumn. 🍂

September arrives differently in the Nordic countries.

As summer begins to fade, Swedish harvest traditions celebrate what the land has provided and the gradual return toward warmth, nourishment and home.

It is this seasonal rhythm that inspired our September Nordic Ritual.

🍂 Introducing SKÖRDEFEST | Harvest & Hearth Ritual

Skördefest - Swedish for “harvest festival” - becomes our invitation to slow down, gather what restores you, and prepare both body and mind for the cooler season ahead.

Your experience begins with our 120-minute Nordic Circuit.

HEAT - Gather
Settle into sauna warmth as muscles soften and the body begins to release.

COLD - Clear
Awaken the senses through cold contrast and steady breath.

SALT - Ground
Return to the quiet of our Himalayan Salt Haven and allow the body to settle into deep rest.

Then transition into a 50-minute Skrúbba Tranquillity Body Scrub.

After a summer of sun, heat and activity, aromatic exfoliation gently releases dry, dull surface skin while restorative touch leaves the body feeling soft, smooth and replenished.

And we're adding one small detail that may become our favourite part of Skördefest.

The Harvest Pour.

As your ritual draws to a close, settle in with a warm cup of Söder tea and a small Nordic-inspired seasonal fika - a simple expression of the Scandinavian tradition of slowing down over something warm and something delicious.

Beside your tea, one question:

What do you want to carry with you into autumn?

No resolutions.

Nothing to accomplish.

Just an opportunity to notice the changing season and move with it.

NOURISH • GROUND • GATHER

Introducing Återhämta | The Recovery Ritual

Sometimes you don’t need more. You need time to recover.

Meet Återhämta (Swedish for “recover”) a new 90-minute ritual at Søle created for tired skin, tense shoulders, and bodies that could use a little less doing and a little more restoration.

This isn't a facial followed by a back treatment.

It's one uninterrupted recovery ritual.

Your experience begins with a warm compress, back exfoliation, and focused massage through the back, shoulders and neck, areas where so many of us carry the effects of long days, physical work, training and stress.

From there, the ritual flows seamlessly into a customized [ comfort zone ] facial with cleansing, exfoliation, targeted skincare and mask, followed by slow massage of the face, scalp, neck and shoulders.

The result?

Less tension. Healthier-looking skin. Deep relaxation. And 90 minutes where absolutely nothing is required of you.

Återhämta was designed with men especially in mind, but like wellness itself, recovery has no gender.

There is still time to experience August’s Iceland-inspired reset.

Our Verslunarmannahelgi - Iceland Reset Ritual is available only until the end of August.

Begin with a 120-Minute Ró Circuit, moving mindfully through:

• Finnish Hot Rock Sauna
• Cold Plunge
• Himalayan Salt Haven
• Unhurried rest

Your circuit is followed by the 50-Minute Hvile Magnesium Ritual, designed to ease muscular tension, support deep rest, and restore a sense of full-body calm.

Inspired by Iceland’s geothermal bathing culture and the Nordic tradition of pausing before the season changes, this ritual offers a meaningful transition from the energy of summer into autumn’s quieter rhythm.

Book your experience before Verslunarmannahelgi leaves at the end of August.

At Søle Nordic Wellness, our original Ró Circuit was inspired by centuries of Nordic bathing traditions, where alternating heat, cold, and rest are used to restore both body and mind.

Ró (pronounced "roo") is the Norwegian word for calm, stillness, and quiet peace—and that's exactly what this experience is designed to create.

Your journey includes:

- Finnish Hot Rock Sauna to gently warm the body, encourage circulation, and release muscular tension.
- Cold Plunge to awaken the senses, refresh the body, and leave you feeling energized and clear.
- Himalayan Salt Haven to slow your breathing, quiet the mind, and allow deep relaxation to settle in.

Rather than rushing from one station to the next, the Ró Circuit is intentionally self-paced. You are invited to listen to your body, move mindfully through each element, and experience the restorative rhythm of warmth, cold, and stillness.

Whether you're seeking relief from stress, recovery after physical activity, better sleep, or simply a peaceful escape from everyday life, the Ró Circuit offers an opportunity to reconnect—with yourself.

Sometimes the greatest luxury isn't indulgence.
It's stillness.

We invite you to experience the Nordic way of wellness.

Private Ró Circuits also available for groups of 2–6 guests.

Book your experience today.

Your experience includes:

• A 120-Minute Ró Circuit, moving through Finnish sauna warmth, cold immersion, Himalayan salt, and rest

From the Nordics to Søle | Five Ideas I'm Bringing Back to Alberta

As my Nordic research journey comes to an end, one question keeps coming up:

"What are you bringing back to Søle?"

The answer isn't souvenirs.

It's inspiration.

Here are five ideas that will help shape the next chapter of Søle Nordic Wellness.

1. A More Intentional Approach to Massage

One of the most meaningful discoveries was experiencing how Finnish massage therapists often blend techniques with an unhurried, intuitive approach. Rather than following a routine, they "listen" to the body, adapting each treatment to what the client needs in that moment. That philosophy aligns beautifully with how we want every guest to feel, seen, cared for, and never rushed.

2. Scandinavian Skincare That Supports the Skin Barrier

I discovered Swedish skincare brands that focus on strengthening the skin barrier rather than chasing trends. Their philosophy is simple: healthy, resilient skin comes first. As we continue to grow, we're exploring ways to complement our existing skincare offerings with products that reflect this distinctly Nordic approach.

3. Refreshing Nordic-Inspired Beverages

Hydration is an important part of the wellness journey. Throughout my travels I've enjoyed beautifully simple beverages inspired by berries, herbs, botanicals, and sparkling waters. I'm excited to explore how refreshing Nordic-inspired drinks could become part of the Søle experience during your wellness circuit.

4. Learning from Finland's Saunottajas

Perhaps my greatest inspiration has been learning about the role of the Saunottaja, a trained sauna guide who transforms sauna into a thoughtfully paced ritual using heat, steam, aroma, rhythm, and intention. While our approach will be uniquely Søle, these traditions have given me a deeper appreciation for what guided sauna experiences can become.

5. A Vision for Our Expansion

This journey has completely changed how I think about our upcoming renovation.

Not simply how it should look, but how it should feel.

The architecture, natural materials, lighting, acoustics, guest flow, and quiet moments between experiences all matter. Every detail should support calm, restoration, and connection.

This trip has reminded me that authentic Nordic wellness isn't created through luxury alone.

It's created through thoughtful design, meaningful traditions, and genuine hospitality.

I can't wait to bring these ideas home and continue building something truly special for our community.

Kiitos. Tack. Takk.

Thank you for following along on this journey.

From the Nordics to Søle | Scandinavian Design Isn't Minimalism - It's Intentionality

Before this journey, I admired Scandinavian design for its beauty.

After spending time throughout Sweden, Norway, and Finland, I understand that its true purpose goes much deeper.

Scandinavian design isn't about having less.

It's about making every detail matter.

As I've visited wellness centres, hotels, saunas, and public spaces, I've found myself paying attention to things most people probably don't notice:

🌲 The warmth of natural wood beneath your hand.
💡 Soft lighting that gently guides you from one space to the next.
🔇 Acoustics that encourage quiet conversation and peaceful reflection.
🪨 Natural materials that age beautifully instead of simply looking new.
🚶 Thoughtful guest flow that feels effortless, allowing each experience to unfold naturally.

Nothing feels accidental.

Every choice has been made to create a sense of calm, comfort, and connection.

That philosophy has become one of my biggest takeaways from this trip.

As we continue planning the expansion of Søle Nordic Wellness, these observations will shape more than our décor. They'll influence how guests move through our spaces, how they experience stillness, and how every environment supports relaxation and wellbeing.

Beautiful design isn't simply something you see.

It's something you feel.

And that's exactly what we're working toward.

From the Nordics to Søle | What Finland Taught Me About Sauna

One of the biggest lessons I've learned while travelling through Finland is that a sauna isn't simply a room.

It's a ritual.

In North America, we often think of sauna as a place to sweat. In Finland, it's something much deeper, a place to slow down, reconnect, reflect, and simply be.

I was especially fascinated by the role of the Saunottaja (SOW-nowt-tah-yah), a trained sauna guide who gently leads guests through a thoughtfully paced experience. Rather than focusing only on heat, a Saunottaja shapes the atmosphere through timing, water, scent, steam (löyly), breathing, rest, and intention, creating an experience that calms both body and mind.

I also learned that sauna etiquette is built on respect:

🪵 Respect the quiet.
💧 Pour water thoughtfully to create gentle löyly.
🧖 Sit on a towel.
🌿 Move between heat, cooling, and rest without rushing.
❤️ Listen to your body, not the clock.

What struck me most was that Finns don't treat sauna as an indulgence.

They treat it as an essential part of everyday wellbeing.

That philosophy is something I hope to continue bringing to Søle Nordic Wellness, not by copying Finland, but by honouring the traditions that have made sauna such an enduring part of Nordic life.

The more I learn, the more excited I become for what lies ahead.

From the Nordics to Søle | Behind the Scenes

People often ask where the inspiration for Søle Nordic Wellness comes from.

The answer is simple, it comes from here.

Over the past several weeks, I've been travelling throughout Sweden, Norway, and Finland, not as a tourist, but as a student of Nordic wellness.

I've been visiting traditional saunas, exploring Scandinavian skincare brands, studying architecture and design, learning about Finnish sauna traditions, meeting wellness professionals, researching Saunottaja practices, experiencing Finnish massage therapy, and gathering ideas that simply can't be learned from a book or a website.

Every conversation, every sauna, every design detail and every ritual teaches me something new.

Our goal has never been to build a spa that merely looks Scandinavian.

Our goal is to create a wellness experience that genuinely reflects Nordic culture, tradition, and the science of recovery.

Many of the ideas I'm discovering will influence the next chapter of Søle Nordic Wellness, from future treatments and rituals to our upcoming expansion and guest experience.

I can't wait to bring these experiences home and share them with all of you.

This is only the beginning.
