Leduc Beaumont Devon Primary Care Network

Leduc Beaumont Devon Primary Care Network Integrated and comprehensive primary health care for a healthier Leduc County and its communities.

The Leduc Beaumont Devon Primary Care Network provides services for patients in the City of Leduc, towns of Beaumont and Devon and all communities in Leduc County. A group of 63 family physicians in 17 clinics along with additional health care professionals (registered nurses, registered dietitians, an exercise specialist, behavioural health consultants and mental health therapists) work together

to improve primary care for our patients. Primary Care Networks (PCNs) use a collaborative team approach to provide care for patients and to coordinate primary health care services provided by family physicians, Alberta Health Services and other health care professionals. PCNs are a way to provide team support for family doctors by bringing teams of health professionals together – doctors, nurses, dietitians, social workers, mental health professionals, pharmacists, occupational and respiratory therapists and others. PCNs also manage 24-hour patient access to appropriate primary care services.

Kinesiology Week
June 1-8

A kinesiologist, or exercise specialist, is a health professional who studies and works with human movement. Kinesiology is the scientific study of how the body moves and how different systems — including the muscles, bones, nerves, brain, and even psychological factors — work together during movement and physical activity. The word comes from the Greek word kinesis, meaning “to move.” Kinesiologists/exercise specialists help people improve mobility, physical function, strength, and overall health through movement and exercise.

June is National Indigenous History Month. A time to learn, reflect and celebrate the rich cultures, histories, and contributions of First Nations, Inuit and Métis Peoples.
Throughout the month, communities across Alberta are hosting events, workshops, cultural celebrations and more. These gatherings offer meaningful opportunities to connect, learn and honour Indigenous voices and traditions.

One of the most meaningful parts of family medicine is building long-term relationships and supporting patients through every stage of life. 🩺
Thank you, Dr. Stefanek, for sharing what you love most about working with your patients and for the lasting impact you continue to make.
Q: What do you love most about working with your patients?

A: “Many things! But one fun thing is that some have been with me for over 20 years. I have seen kids grow into adults and go on to have their own families. I’ve had patients go into medicine because they see the important work we do and are inspired by that.”

May is Mental Health Awareness Month, a timely reminder that supporting mental
well-being is essential in both our personal and professional lives. It’s an opportunity to reduce stigma, encourage open conversations and prioritize self-care while also checking in on colleagues, friends and loved ones.
By fostering understanding and compassion, we can help create environments where everyone feels supported and empowered to seek help when they need it. 💚
If you or someone you know needs support, consider talking to your healthcare provider about available mental health resources and services.
