Meet Stark, Ed's Golden Retriever with unlimited enthusiasm. 🐾✨

Stark is 6 years old and loves two things: giving kisses to random people and jumping at any opportunity to swim. Pure golden retriever energy.

When the engineering gets tough, Stark's there to remind the team that sometimes the best solution is just taking a break and enjoying the moment. He might not understand prosthetics, but he's definitely part of what makes Vessl feel like home. 🙌

There’s been a lot of curiosity around how Kinn actually works day to day 🦿

A question we often get is can a patient loosen the Kinn themselves if their socket starts to feels too tight? Sydney has the answer in !

Patients on GLP 1s are experiencing rapid limb volume changes, and traditional socket workflows were not built for this.

That gap is starting to show up in clinic.

We broke down what is actually happening and what it means for prosthetic care.

OTWorld opens today in Leipzig, day one and we're here. 🤝

We're so excited to be at the industry's most important gathering, bringing together the clinicians, engineers, and decision makers actively shaping prosthetic care.

For a company focused on solving one of the field's most persistent challenges, there's no better room to be in.

If you're attending, let's connect.

This September, the Vessl team is running for Terry. 🍁

What started as a one time show of support has become one of our most meaningful traditions. Terry Fox's Marathon of Hope reshaped cancer research and showed the world what determination looks like, including what it looks like on a prosthetic limb. That story sits close to home for us. We spend every day working to improve mobility and quality of life for amputees, and honouring Terry's legacy feels like a natural extension of that.

We're participating in the Terry Fox Run this fall and would be grateful for your support. Every dollar goes directly toward research that saves lives.

Prosthetists aren’t therapists.

But as Cassandra Delgado shared in a conversation with Sydney Robinson, they spend a lot of time with their patients.

They help them advocate for themselves. They build trust.

And sometimes, that leads to moments like “You’ve changed how I walk and how I look at life.”

That kind of relationship doesn’t happen in a 15 minute visit. And it’s a part of prosthetic care most people never see.👀

We’re excited to have Lee Garda joining Vessl as our newest Mechanical Engineering Co-op!

Lee is a 4th year mechanical engineering student at the University of Alberta, where he’s also Co President and Mechanical Lead of Alberta Bionix. He’s been focused on building systems that interact directly with the human body, which is what pulled him toward the prosthetics space.

At Vessl, he’ll be working closely with the team on mechanical design and development for the Kinn system over the next 8 months.

Outside of engineering, he’s usually either boxing or outside somewhere.
Glad to have you on the team, Lee 🎉

Kinn exists because of the people who built it. ✨

Good engineering isn't just about technical skill. It's about the people who can iterate when something doesn't work, pivot when the data says to, and push through the challenges that don't have easy answers. It's about showing up in the lab and doing the hard work, but also showing up for each other.

Vessl is strong because of its people. The engineers who test and refine. The team members who challenge assumptions and ask better questions. The collaborators who understand that building medical devices means getting it right, not getting it done fast.

Developing Kinn has been years of prototyping, testing, failing, learning, and improving. It's taken a team that values precision as much as they value each other. That combination is rare, and it's what makes the work possible.

Grateful for the people who make this work real. 🙌

Your socket fit shapes everything. Comfort, stability, and whether a prosthesis is worn consistently throughout the day all come back to this one connection point.

But what should a good fit actually feel like? And how do you know when something is off?

We break it down in our latest blog. Read more: https://lnkd.in/eip3CDtA

Kinn gets described in a lot of different ways, especially as a newer approach in prosthetic care 🦿

This series is about clearing that up and showing how it actually works in practice.

We’re starting with some of the most common misconceptions we hear.

Next week we are at DiscoveryX as part of the IPON group 🚀

If you are in Toronto on April 29 to 30, come find us at the Enercare Centre. We will be there sharing what we are building with Kinn and having conversations with people who care about where prosthetics are going next.

DiscoveryX, hosted by the Ontario Centre of Innovation, brings together founders, investors, researchers, and operators from across Ontario. It is one of the few places where you get this kind of cross section of the ecosystem in one room.

Being part of the Intellectual Property Ontario (IPON) group this year also means a lot. There is a growing focus on protecting and scaling what is built here and we are proud to be part of that.
If you are around, stop by and say hi 🙌
