The best lip filler is the filler nobody notices.

Not because there’s anything wrong with wanting more volume — but because good filler should be designed around your face, your anatomy and your goals.

For some clients, that might mean adding subtle volume. For others, it may be about enhancing shape, improving symmetry or defining the lip border.

And sometimes? The right recommendation is to add less — or not treat at all.

My approach is always individualized, conservative and focused on results that still feel like you.

Thinking about lip filler but worried about looking overdone?

Save this post — tomorrow I’m sharing 7 things I think everyone should know before their first lip filler appointment.

Individual results vary. An assessment and informed consent are required to determine whether treatment is appropriate.

Weight management is not one-size-fits-all.

MIC injections contain methionine, inositol, and choline: nutrients involved in normal metabolic processes, including lipid transport and cellular signaling. Although these biological roles provide a rationale for considering MIC as supportive care, MIC injections should not be used for weight management on their own.

When appropriate, MIC may be considered as one complementary component of a broader plan that includes:

• balanced nutrition
• regular physical activity
• sustainable behavioural strategies
• appropriate medical care and follow-up

Before treatment is considered, I complete a comprehensive nursing assessment that includes your health history, medications and supplements, allergies, weight trajectory, lifestyle factors, goals, contraindications and potential referral needs.

Your assessment is then reviewed by a Nurse Practitioner, who determines whether treatment is appropriate. Eligibility for a consultation does not guarantee approval or treatment.

Individual responses vary.

Before booking an injectable appointment, ask these 6 questions.

A consultation should be more than choosing a treatment or deciding how many units or syringes you “need.” It should help you understand:

Who will be providing your treatment
Whether the treatment is appropriate for you
What product will be used and why
The potential risks, alternatives and realistic limitations
What happens if you experience a concern
What follow-up and aftercare are included

A responsible provider should welcome your questions, explain your options clearly and give you the information you need to make an informed decision.

Save this checklist for your next consultation, or send it to someone considering injectable treatment.

Have a question you would add to the list? Leave it below.

A subtle change can make a meaningful difference.

This client was looking to enhance lip show and volume on the top lip while maintaining her natural shape.

With this treatment we were able to achieve symmetry, add volume and hydration. We added structure and enhanced her natural shape to give a crisp appearance.

Every treatment begins with a comprehensive consultation to discuss your goals, assess your facial anatomy, and determine whether treatment is appropriate for you. My approach is always focused on achieving balanced, natural-looking results.

Results vary from person to person, and additional treatment may be recommended depending on your anatomy and desired outcome.

What actually happens during a wrinkle treatment appointment?

If you’ve been curious about neuromodulators but aren’t sure what to expect, here’s what your appointment looks like at Mackenzie Medical Aesthetics:

1. Consultation & Assessment
We start by discussing your concerns, goals, medical history, and what you’re hoping to achieve. I’ll assess your facial anatomy and muscle movement to create a treatment plan that’s unique to you.

2. Personalized Treatment Plan
There is no “one-size-fits-all” approach. Every face is different, and your treatment will be customized based on your anatomy and desired outcome.

3. The Treatment
Using a very fine needle, customized amounts of product are precisely placed into the targeted muscles. Most clients describe the sensation as a quick pinch, and the treatment itself usually takes just a few minutes.

4. Aftercare
You’ll receive personalized aftercare instructions before you leave. Most people return to their normal daily activities immediately after their appointment.

5. Your Results
Treatment doesn’t work instantly. You’ll typically begin to notice results within 3–5 days, with full results developing around 10–14 days. That’s why I schedule a follow-up appointment two weeks later to assess your results and make any adjustments if needed.

My priority is always achieving natural, balanced results that leave you looking refreshed.

Have questions about neuromodulators? I’d love to answer them! Drop them in the comments or send me a message.
