How Mental Detox Helps Prevent Psychosomatic Disease Before It Starts
Most people wait until something breaks. A diagnosis. A crisis. A body that refuses to cooperate. But neuroscience tells us that most physical diseases don't appear out of nowhere — they are consequences of psychosomatics. As Bessel van der Kolk showed in "The Body Keeps the Score" — the body remembers what the mind tries to forget. John Sarno proved that suppressed emotions directly cause chronic physical pain. Diseases develop slowly, invisibly, from unresolved emotional states — chronic stress, suppressed anxiety, unprocessed trauma.
According to the World Health Organization, every 7th person on Earth lives with a mental health condition — and most don't even know it. And that's only among those who have been studied — the real number is significantly higher. People feel tired, tense, irritable, afraid. Their body sends signals. And they ignore them, or simply don't notice, until it's too late.

The Mind-Body Connection Is Not a Theory — It's Biology
When you experience chronic stress, your body activates the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal system — a system of three glands working together: the hypothalamus receives the stress signal, the pituitary gland passes it on, and the adrenal glands release cortisol and adrenaline. In the short term, this is useful — it's the body's protective response. But when stress becomes constant, cortisol suppresses the immune system, disrupts sleep, raises blood pressure, and creates chronic inflammation in the body. This is not philosophy — it is measurable, documented biology.
John Kabat-Zinn, the founder of the Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction program, proved that mindfulness practice measurably reduces inflammation, chronic pain, and anxiety. Candace Pert in "Molecules of Emotion" showed that emotions are not abstract — they are biochemical events that directly affect every organ in the body. Herbert Benson proved that the relaxation response — a state of calm, conscious awareness — physically lowers heart rate, blood pressure, and cortisol levels.
I know this personally. As a Ukrainian war veteran, I lived for years with blood pressure of 280/200. Most people cannot imagine functioning like that. It was still in Ukraine that I began working on myself — treating my psyche, and through that, my physiology. I started medication and consciously worked to calm my nervous system. By the time I arrived in Canada, I was already more or less as I am now — with a blood pressure of 120/80. The body responds directly to what happens in the mind.

The Answer Is Simpler Than You Think: Control Your Mind
Most people look for a physical solution to a psychological problem. They change their diet, take vitamins, visit doctors. This matters — but it treats the consequences, not the cause.
The root is always the same: uncontrolled thoughts, unprocessed emotions, unresolved inner conflicts. A car accident is a consequence of inattention — inattention is a consequence of distraction — distraction is a consequence of thinking about something other than what you are doing right now. A failed exam due to nerves — nerves due to lack of preparation — lack of preparation due to avoidance — avoidance due to fear.
Everything has a psychological root. And when you learn to trace that root — you gain the ability to change the outcome before it becomes a disease.
There is almost never a real reason to live in chronic stress. Everything around you is in your hands. The world you experience is built from your thoughts. When you control your thoughts — you control your health.

You Are the Creator of Your World
In ancient times, people had little awareness of the world and attributed what they could not explain to gods. Today, science gives us a different perspective: you are not a passive recipient of fate. You are the creator of your own universe.
It begins at the moment of conception — scientists have documented a flash of light when a s***m and egg unite. From darkness, a new world is born. And as that world grows — as a child learns, feels, and experiences — the first psychological patterns are formed. Not by fate. By the environment. By parents. By the words that were spoken, and the love that was given or withheld.
This is where psychosomatic disease begins — not in the body, but in the mind of a child who learned to carry fear, shame, or unresolved conflict.
Your awareness in creating your world is your learning, your investment in your own development. Because you were born with the potential of a creator. And you create not only your conscious world, but yourself and your own psyche.
Metacognition — the ability to observe your own thoughts, analyze them, and consciously manage them — is the tool that separates the person who builds their health from the person who waits until it collapses. When your mind is balanced, when you love yourself and those around you, when you do good — who can stop you from consciously building a healthy body?
As we say in Ukraine: if God is with you — who can be against you? And God is love. And that love — is you.

Neuroplasticity: Your Brain Builds Your Body
Neuroplasticity — the ability of the brain to change under the influence of thoughts and experience — shapes everything in your life. When you expect the worst — you become anxious, and this leads to negative physiological consequences. When you are stressed because you consciously did not prepare to live well — you are damaging your body, no matter what you do to treat the physiology.
The Bible was once written for people who had little knowledge of the world — and gave them guidelines on how to live. Today, humanity has new knowledge. And needs new tools.
