Two people can look almost identical and still not respond to laser the same way.
This is why I don’t choose your settings based on skin colour alone. I’m looking at your medical history, medications, your hair, is it coarse, fine, dense? and most importantly, how your skin has responded to previous treatments.
Sometimes I can use a setting that would normally be appropriate for that skin type and the skin tells me, nope, that was too much. Maybe there was more irritation than I wanted, a little crusting or a reaction afterward. I need to know that, because the next time you come in, I’m adjusting.
And the opposite can happen too. If your skin tolerated your previous treatment very well and the hair is still responding in a certain way, that gives me information for today’s treatment.
That’s why even sisters with the same parents and very similar skin tones may not receive the exact same settings.
Your treatment should be based on how your skin and your hair respond.
