This weeks group was great! We did a dive into our Inner Trickster otherwise known as our Inner Critic.
We started by taking a look at what some of our Inner Tricksters say to us often. Responses ranged from nobody loves you to I’m fat and ugly. It was hard to get some of those out, but the acknowledgment was one step of this exercise.
We next looked at how our Inner Trickster was created. Where some of these things we say to ourselves come from. Many mentioned family members (sometimes our own family can be the harshest on us) and ranged to schools, community members, and even our ancestors/blood memory.
The last step was acknowledging what our Inner Trickster might be there to protect. Responses ranged from acceptance, failure, rejection and so forth.
Some of our participants wanted to duke it out with their Inner Trickster, but one of the lessons is Whatever Resists Persists. The objective was to honour what our Inner Trickster was trying to protect us from and what it is trying to fight to receive. It’s acknowledging that these words aren’t typically our own.
The last step of our group was to make felt
affirmation pouches. Kind things we can say to ourselves throughout our days because we aren’t just what the Inner Trickster is saying. We are more!
