On the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, I am incredibly proud to stand as an Indigenous woman and the owner of an Indigenous-owned business. 🧡
Our history is complicated and painful. Residential schools. Indian Hospitals. Children taken from their families. Languages, culture, and identity attacked and humiliated. Families and communities carrying the impacts of decisions they never had a choice in.
And yet, we are still here. We lost a lot along the way.
Today, I want to honor the strength of the Indigenous people who survived things that are difficult to even imagine. The ones who kept going. The ones who carried pieces of our culture, our teachings, our humor, our love, and our ways of knowing forward, even when so much was taken from them.
Their strength is why we are here.
I am proud to be part of a generation that is healing, breaking cycles, reclaiming what was always ours, and creating something different for our children.
Through HMS, I am deeply honored to support Indigenous people as they reconnect with themselves, the land, horses, culture, and one another.
I am walking the best path I know for my children, my community, and for the people who come through our doors.
And we are building a stronger future for the generations coming behind us.
Today, I remember those who endured.
I honor those who survived. 🧡
