Our team joined hundreds of passionate walkers across Canada to help raise awareness and vital funds for Canadians living with multiple sclerosis. Every step we took brought us closer to a future free of MS. Thank you to everyone who supported, donated, and walked with us.

⭐ At Bayshore Specialty Rx, every patient is more than a prescription, they’re part of our community. Recently, we were reminded just how meaningful this connection can be. ⭐

One of our patients, starting an important new treatment, reached out after experiencing an injection site reaction. She didn’t just call our pharmacy, she asked for her pharmacist, Shelley, by name. Shelley had made sure during their initial conversation to introduce herself warmly, repeating her name and giving out her direct contact information, and also handed them a fridge magnet with contact information for situations like this. This small gesture made all the difference when the patient needed reassurance.
Because of the trust established, the patient felt comfortable reaching out directly. Shelley quickly assessed the situation, confirmed the reaction wasn’t an emergency, and calmly walked the patient through what to watch for, when to seek further help, and how to manage symptoms at home. The patient’s peace of mind was made possible by the proactive, personal approach our team takes with every person we serve.

As Pharmacy Awareness Month continues at Bayshore Specialty Rx, we know every patient journey is different, and with that come challenges. Recently, we were reminded just how challenging journeys with coverage can be.

A palliative care physician was caring for a patient with complex reimbursement and coverage requirements. Multiple pharmacies were contacted, but were unable to assist with navigating the insurance process.

The Bayshore Pharmacy team took on the case, collaborating with the physician to understand the eligibility criteria and the steps required for submitting the drug plan. The team completed the necessary coverage process, secured approval, and ensured the patient received timely access to therapy.

The patient was able to receive timely end-of-life care, and the prescriber contacted the pharmacy team to acknowledge that Bayshore Specialty Rx was the only pharmacy willing to assist in obtaining coverage for their patient. The nursing team that cared for this patient referred another patient with complex reimbursement to Bayshore Specialty Rx, based on the positive experience they had with the team.

💙 The patient's family was extremely grateful for their loved one to be taken care of. Let's recognize and celebrate Bayshore Specialty Rx’s crucial role in supporting our communities.
