✨ Sometimes, we don’t pierce — and that’s okay. ✨
This weekend, we had the sweetest little 6-year-old come in for her very first ear piercings. She was excited, but once we got downstairs into the piercing room, her nerves really started to take over.
After giving her some time and talking everything through, Tay and I made the professional decision that it wasn’t the right moment to continue with the piercing.
Her mom and dad were incredibly understanding and supportive of that decision — although our little client was understandably pretty disappointed. 🤍
As professional piercers, our job isn’t simply to complete every piercing appointment that walks through the door. Our job is also to recognize when someone is too nervous, overwhelmed, uncomfortable, or unable to confidently participate in the process safely.
At Yas Queen Beauty + King’s Pen Tattoo, consent and safety will always come before completing a service. No client — child, teen, or adult — will ever be pressured, restrained, or put into a situation they aren’t comfortable with just so we can “get the piercing done.”
There will always be another day. Another appointment. Another chance when they’re feeling ready. 💕
Sometimes the most professional thing a piercer can do is put the needle down and say, “Not today.”
And that is completely okay. 🖤
