Coldwater Indian Band IR3 is currently under an Evacuation Alert. An Evacuation Alert is intended to provide residents with time to prepare for the possibility of evacuation should conditions worsen. This is not an Evacuation Order, and residents may remain in their homes while staying informed and ready to leave on short notice if necessary.

INFORMATION RELEASE

Issuance of Evacuation ALERT for Kloklowuck IR #7 and Antko IR #21
Effective August 11, 2026 12:00 p.m.

We have been monitoring the Ainslie Creek Wildfire over the past few weeks. As this fire continues to grow it has branched off to two fingers that are of concern to Cook’s Ferry Indian Band. Fire activity in the Northeast in the vicinity of the Prospect Creek Forest Service Road and fire activity in the South East in the vicinity of Uztlius Creek, South of Spius Creek continues to grow causing concern for IR 7 and IR 21 respectively.

To support the protection of IR 7 and IR 21, Chief and Council have issued an Evacuation Alert for IR 7 and IR 21 effective Tuesday August 11, 2026 at 12:00 p.m. due to the risk from the Ainslie Creek Wildfire.

Our intention is to ensure structural protection is installed within the two reserves and that vegetation is managed. With fallen ash, and embers, it is important to ensure that the community is as fire smart as possible.

What you should do:
- Don’t panic. Information will be provided as it evolves
- Pack a bag with essentials, medication and important documents
- If you need assistance, should we need to evacuate, please let us know as soon as possible
- Remove any combustibles from your yard
