October 4 marks the National Day of Action for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls.

This morning, we placed a red dress in our main lobby at Headquarters to not only honour the lives lost, but to reaffirm our commitment to ending violence against women and girls today, and every day. ❤️

We're excited to add textile repairs to our list of items you can bring to our Oct. 19 Repair Cafe - only at Burlington City Hall from 12 noon to 2pm. Simple repairs to rips, tears, seams only (no full alterations, there are plenty of businesses that can help you with those).

Naturalized gardens use less water, need less upkeep, and improve the City’s urban forest. By planting different native and non-invasive plants that thrive together, you can create a natural habitat in your own yard. With any garden, weeding and pest control is necessary to maintain the health of your garden. However, it’s a great low-maintenance option for homeowners.

But don’t forget! Naturalized gardens do not mean abandoning lawn maintenance all together. Leaving grass and other vegetation to grow naturally without any maintenance can be harmful to your property and environment. It can even result in the introduction of noxious or invasive weeds, bugs and pests.
