There’s a quiet kind of strength you’ve been carrying for a long time. The kind that keeps showing up, keeps holding it all together, even when something inside you is asking for space to breathe.

Not as something you have to learn or perform but as something your body already understands.

I just have to take a moment to celebrate… because THIS is what WILDFIT is all about.

I reached out to my Alumni to see who was ready to reset with WILDERBODY—a whole new level of content built on the same transformational principles as WILDFIT. And one of them, JG from Aurora, responded with this:

Food Freedom Lessons: What WILDERBODY Teaches You
"The real weight we carry isn’t on our bodies; it’s in our minds."

So often, we focus solely on the physical aspects of our health journey, believing that shedding pounds will lead to happiness. Yet, the heaviest burdens are often the unseen beliefs and emotions we carry within. These internal narratives shape our relationship with food and self-worth.

For example, have any of these common thoughts or beliefs visited you lately?

"I can't do it."
The belief says after multiple unsuccessful attempts at weight loss, you may feel incapable of achieving your goals.
The impact on your life is this belief fosters a sense of defeat, leading to a lack of motivation and potential abandonment of health pursuits

"I don't deserve it."
The belief says you feel unworthy of attaining a healthy body or experiencing happiness.
The impact on your life is This mindset can result in self-sabotage, where you unconsciously hinder your progress due to feelings of unworthiness.

"I just need more willpower."
This belief has the assumption that sheer willpower is the sole key to weight loss.
The impact on your life is this belief can lead to frustration and self-blame when willpower wanes, ignoring the importance of sustainable habits and self-trust.

"I've tried everything. Nothing seems to work for me.
This belief fosters a sense of hopelessness stemming from past failed attempts at weight loss and gaining health.
The impact on your life is this mindset can discourage you from exploring new or alternative approaches, limiting your potential for success.

"My family is overweight; it's in my genes."
This belief says the notion affirms that genetic predisposition makes weight loss unattainable.
The impact on your life is This belief can lead to resignation and a lack of effort toward health goals, underestimating the influence of lifestyle changes.

By questioning the truth of these beliefs it allows us to realize that perhaps not all our beliefs are truly supportive to our health and well-being. By addressing and changing our perspective and releasing these mental weights, we open the door to true transformation, finding freedom and peace in both body and mind.

Let me tell you a story. I have always been a person who has felt young at heart. However, hidden in my subconscious was the belief that as you age aches, pains and weight gain is just part of the process.

And so in my 60’s when a little weight started to pile on and the body was becoming slightly less flexible, rather than looking at what I was contributing to my own situation, I just put it down to aging.

I became aware of how many times I was excusing a signal my body was giving me by putting down to aging ( and it was more than I what I imagined) and I really began to question the truth of that. I looked for mentors of people who were living vibrant full lives and started to examine what they were doing. I kicked that belief to the curb. My new belief for now ( I like to keep my beliefs as soft, so if I gain a new perspective I am willing to change what I believe) is Aging is inevitable, however growing old is optional

I started moving my body more and in fun ways, I allowed more time for play. I found WILDFIT and changed my relationship with food. And I started to fall in love with myself, fall in love with life. My life became healthier, happier and more vibrant. Yes I will continue to age, however there will never be a reason to grow old.

In our pursuit of health and well-being, it's easy to view cravings and setbacks as failures. Yet, each craving is a messenger, each setback a lesson, guiding us toward deeper self-awareness. Instead of striving for perfection, let's embrace these moments as opportunities to listen to our body's wisdom, adjust our paths, and cultivate trust in ourselves.

Remember, the journey to wellness is not a straight line but a beautiful, winding path of learning and growth.

What has a recent craving or setback taught you about your needs or desires?

I'll start.

Last week I heard from a friend about how another long wait for medical testing meant a condition had deteriorated beyond the easier resolution. I was so angry at hearing another story of similar outcomes, later I ate half a large bag of potato chips. The crunchy sounds felt like it was satisfying something around this anger. At first I was just eating angrily without much thought, then I became aware of what I was doing and I paused and began to explore what was it all about. I had this anger against a system, that I could not change and directing that anger at me by eating poorly was not going to bode well for me. If anything it would put me at risk for being in the same situation as my friend. So I stopped eating the potato chips, and asked myself, what is a healthier way to express this anger? I realized I could vote with my dollars and support alternative health practitioners. I also realized I could just sit and be with the anger, inviting me to understand what is really at the root of the anger. And, I realized it was fear. What if that were to happen to me. My health declined faster because it was not attended to in a timely way. Parts of this is still unfolding.
What could have been perceived as a failure, turned out to be an unfolding of a deeper truth.
