Union of Medical Care and Relief Organizations-Canada (UOSSM Canada) is an independent, nonprofit, non-government, medical, humanitarian organization, founded to support the health-related needs and well-being of people and communities affected by crises. UOSSM-Canada is a charitable medical relief organization that provides humanitarian and medical assistance to all Syrian victims of war regardless of their religion, ethnicity or political affiliation. UOSSM-Canada also aims to strengthen the capacity of the health care delivery system in crisis affected areas, and coordinates efforts with other organizations in Canada and abroad to deliver support and raise awareness for the Syrian medical and humanitarian crisis.

Healthcare providers in Gaza report critical spikes in severe acute malnutrition (SAM) among vulnerable populations, notably infants and displaced families. The collapse of essential supply chains, coupled with inadequate access to clean water and specialized medical nutrition, is leading to life-threatening complications.

A year ago, a ceasefire was announced in Gaza. Since then, more than 1,400 people have been killed and more than 5,100 injured, according to the Gaza Ministry of Health. UNICEF says about one child has been killed every day, on average.

Only 19 of Gaza’s 36 hospitals are partly working, according to WHO, and none at full capacity.

When the headlines changed, giving slowed. The need did not.

UOSSM Canada’s teams are still there, working in 9 healthcare facilities across Gaza. Al-Rantisi Hospital is at risk of closing, and it needs your support now.

For 2+ years, our teams have witnessed unimaginable hardship.

But there were also moments of healing.

Since 2024, UOSSM Canada has provided more than 3 million medical services across Gaza. These photos hold a small part of that journey.

Three years ago today, the war on Gaza began. More than 74,000 people have been killed since, including more than 20,000 children, according to the Gaza Ministry of Health.

The UN reports more than 1,700 health workers killed. WHO says all 36 of Gaza’s hospitals have been damaged, and only 19 are partially working.

Our teams did not leave. Since 2024, UOSSM Canada has delivered more than 3 million medical services in Gaza and provided mental health support to more than 7,700 children.

A ceasefire took effect last October. It changed the headlines, not the need. More than 1,400 people have been killed since, and hospitals still run short of medicine, equipment and staff.
