C-SECTION RECOVERY 🤍 | Supporting your body after birth
A C-section is major abdominal surgery — and while the incision may be the most visible part of recovery, your body has experienced changes far beyond the scar itself.
During pregnancy, birth and a C-section, the abdominal wall, diaphragm, pelvis, lower back and surrounding connective tissues all adapt. As healing progresses, some women may notice:
• Tightness or pulling around the scar
• Abdominal or pelvic tension
• Lower back or hip discomfort
• Changes in posture or mobility
• Discomfort when twisting, bending or lifting baby
• A feeling of restriction around the abdomen
How can osteopathy help?
Once it is appropriate for you postpartum, gentle osteopathic treatment can focus on restoring comfortable mobility and addressing musculoskeletal and fascial tension throughout the body.
Treatment may include gentle work around the abdomen and C-section scar, as well as the pelvis, diaphragm, rib cage, spine and surrounding tissues — always respecting your stage of healing and comfort.
The goal isn’t to “break up scar tissue,” but rather to support mobility, reduce areas of tension and help your body move more comfortably as it continues to recover.
And remember: postpartum care isn’t only about baby. Mom deserves care too. 🤍
