Amund Dietzel is one of the most colorful figures in the history of tattoos. As one of the industry’s early pioneers, Dietzel lived a rather extraordinary life and left behind an invaluable legacy that persists in the work of nearly every traditional tattooist in the world. Nothing demonstrates his lasting influence more than the fact that some of the best artists still build off of his original and timeless designs to this very day.

His work continues to inspire modern traditional tattooers, with prolofic flash such as the “Dietzel Girl”, a woman who adorns a theatrical horned mask. This timeless design’s strenght is a straight up head-turner amongst traditional enthusiasts.

Traditional tattooing always has a head-turning effect, even in our current day and age. Whether due to the bold lines, subject matter or the glaring energy of rebellion. The amount of history and symbology behind, made them a staple of history, tales of glory and timelessness that many subcultures from sailors to punks adorned with pride.
