BEYOND THE FINISH LINE 🏁
For most people, race day ends when they cross the finish line.
The cones come down.
The race arch is packed away.
The music stops.
The last participant heads home.
And it looks like it’s over.
But as a Race Director, I know that the finish line is never really the finish line.
Behind that one race morning are months of planning, countless emails, permits, logistics, volunteers, vendors, sponsors, equipment, budgets, troubleshooting and decisions — followed by the work that happens when everyone else has gone home.
• Final virtual race kits have to be sent.
• Invoices have to be reconciled.
• Disputes and outstanding matters have to be addressed.
• Medals and materials have to be sorted, recycled or repurposed.
• Equipment has to be cleaned, packed, inventoried and stored.
• And the books, paperwork and countless loose ends have to be tied up.
For the Toronto Carnival Run, that process could take another month or two after race day.
And now, after 10 years, that work is officially done.
The 2026 Toronto Carnival Run — our 10th and final race — is officially WRAPPED.

When I started this event in 2016, I couldn't have known what it would become.
What began as a small community race grew into something that brought together thousands of people over the years — runners, walkers, families, volunteers, supporters and members of our incredible community.
It became more than a race.
It became a celebration of culture, movement, community and representation.
And while there were certainly challenges along the way, there were also moments that made every early morning, late night, phone call, email, expense, setback and long day worth it.
As the founder and Race Director, I poured an enormous amount of myself into making this event happen year after year.
So today, there is something different about saying:
It's over.
Not just race day.
Not just the final stride.
The entire chapter.
July 25, 2026 marked the final stride of the Toronto Carnival Run.
September 2, 2026 marks the official completion of everything that came after it.
And with that, I can finally say:
Toronto Carnival Run is officially wrapped.

I hope that over these 10 years, this event made an impact.
I hope someone discovered a love of running.
I hope someone who didn't consider themselves a runner found the courage to walk that 1K, 5K or 10K.
I hope someone felt represented.
I hope someone found community.
I hope a child saw themselves reflected in an event celebrating Caribbean culture and thought, "This is for me.”
And I hope the thousands of people who participated over the years carry those memories — and the love of movement — forward.
The Toronto Carnival Run may have made its last stride, but I hope the spirit behind it continues.
Keep running.
Keep walking.
Keep moving.
Keep celebrating.
Keep building community.
Thank you to every participant, volunteer, partner, sponsor, supporter, family member and friend who helped make this journey possible.
And thank you to everyone who showed up — not just on race day, but throughout the years.
