“Just so you know, the gym isn’t therapy.” I know. That’s why I never called it therapy.

But for the last 26 years, it’s been one of the best tools I’ve had for managing stress, building confidence, clearing my mind and getting through life’s ups and downs.

And yes, you can lift weights and see a therapist. Bonus! Call it whatever you want, but I’m still showing up.

I ran into a friend yesterday who lost 50 lbs in 9 mths by walking 6K every day and intermittent fasting. They looked amazing, so I asked how they were feeling. The first thing they said? “No 💉 lol.” And honestly, that stuck with me because it says a lot about where we’re at culturally right now.

GLP-1s definitely have their place and can be life-changing for a lot of people (I know because I work with them) But it’s interesting how weight loss now almost automatically comes with the assumption that medication was involved.

Meanwhile, some people are out here grinding for months, changing their habits, staying disciplined and actually earning their results… while everyone assumes there must’ve been a shortcut involved.

Honestly, it’s way more impressive to see someone completely change their life through daily habits and lifestyle changes on their own. Shouldn’t that be the real trend?

For years I avoided training my shoulders too hard because I was already born broad. I used to get asked if I was on the swim team or played rugby. I spent way too much time wishing my body looked more petite instead of appreciating what it was capable of.

It really doesn’t help that ultra-thin is suddenly back in style again and women are once again scared of looking “too bulky” or too muscular. We throw that word around so casually, but the reality is… most women are nowhere near becoming bulky naturally. Our bodies have limits, genetics, different frames and different muscle potential.

But something shifted for me about a year ago. My own coaches helped me realized…

Instead of fighting my frame, I started working with it. Training my shoulders and back harder actually made me feel MORE confident, not less. Strong posture. Muscle definition. Less pain. Less injury. Feeling capable. Protected. Powerful.

You cannot compare your body to someone else’s. But you CAN own what you have and highlight it in a way that feels strong, healthy and uniquely you.

Muscle is not the enemy. Shrinking yourself isn’t the goal. And honestly… at what age do we finally stop looking in the mirror and insulting ourselves? It’s exhausting.

No one actually walks around wishing for “Demi Moore arms.” We just want to feel better in our skin. Strong. Comfortable. Confident. Healthy enough to enjoy our lives fully for a long time. That’s the goal now.

Not here to 💉 shame… some people genuinely need the support. But watching “skinny” become something you can order on demand? It makes me feel even more locked in about figuring this out the hard way.
