Occupational Therapist
Job Description:
Under the authority of the clinic coordinator, the Occupational Therapist assesses the client's functional skills, determines and implements intervention plan, issues recommendations, develops, restores or maintains skills, compensates for disabilities, reduces disability situations, and adapts the environment in order to promote autonomy, safety and optimizes the clients’ quality of life.
Responsibilities:
• Prescribes specialized adaptive equipment and teaches proper usage;
• Evaluate the home, work, or school environment to assess the need for specialized equipment modifications and/or supports;
• Provide individualized treatment plans to develop, maintain, or augment function using evidence-based treatment modalities;
• Educate and counsel to promote function and independence including health promotion and injury prevention;
• Conduct mobility assessment and Assistive Device Program assessments;
• Exercises care and caution in protecting confidential and sensitive information related to clients and personnel;
• Recommends and arranges for specialist referrals and appointments in consultation with physicians and other health care providers;
• Empower and support clients to improve their ability to perform tasks in their daily living and working environments;
• Evaluate cognitive and/or perceptual abilities;
• Completes reports after each visit
REQUIREMENTS
• Be a member of the Ordre des Ergothérapeutes du Québec (OEQ), a necessary condition.
• Hold a master's or any equivalence degree in occupational therapy.
• Having minimal experience in a comparable position will be considered
• Experience with children and adults who have multiple needs is an asset
• Demonstrated clinical reasoning skills and excellent assessment and therapeutic skill
• Knowledge and proficiency in current, evidence-based methods and practice
• Type of employment: Full-time position
• Working hours: 35hrs/week
• Salary: $ 35$/hr-44$/hr depending on the experience
