I had the wonderful opportunity to speak about young caregiver on yesterday. 27% of Canadians between the age of 14-19 are caregivers. What is frightening is this is only with young caregivers who self identify as being a caregiver.
A caregiver is anyone who supports a family member or friend with an illness, disability, LGBQ2+, domestic violence, emotional support or aging.
As part of my work with mental health and trauma I am lucky enough to support all caregivers as a Caregiver's Advisor at Caregivers Alberta!
Everyday I get to work at a non- profit and support caregivers 1:1, Peer support, Educational Sessions, and programs. Each of these opportunities can be in person or online! WE also have a significant resource library to ensure you as a caregiver can support your care recipient!
