Flip FLOPS

Well, with the warmer temperatures comes sandal weather. Here are a few things to consider about everyone's favourite beach sandal.

Flip-flops do not provide sufficient arch and heel support, so joints have to compensate because your knees, hips and back are not properly aligned. This could lead to injuries such as Achilles tendonitis, plantar fasciitis, shooting pains in your feet and up your legs, and pinched back nerves. Flip-flops can aggravate foot conditions like: plantar fasciitis, arthritis, and tendinitis.

Save the flip-flops for the beach and pool. For walking sandals, choose something with good arch support. Good brands include Birkenstock, Oofos, Sole Sandals, and Orthofeet.

After a significant hiatus, I'm back in New Denver for satellite clinics. The first one is on April 2nd. Part two of my series on medical device reprocessing. How do I actually clean all those instruments I use? Well, I would love to say it was as simple as putting them in the dishwasher, but ewwwww (plus the kitchen one isn't hot enough). They do make medical "dishwashers" for instruments, so if anyone wants to donate $5000-$15000 so I can buy one, that would be amazing! In the meantime, I'll stick to the tried and true methods in this article.
