This week, quite a few of our management team is at the 2026 Conference and AGM in Vernon.

We had a great time on the field tour yesterday on the Monashee Community Forest, and have listened to many engaging sessions today.

Mike, our general manager, was part of a panel today about “defining and delivering community benefits.” Mike talked about our NACFOR governance structure and policy, donations program, and other benefits to community. Great job Mike!

Thank you to everyone who came to the NACFOR open house last week at Wensley Creek!

We had a great turn out, answered lots of questions, and shared a ton of information. We are so pleased there were so many people interested, and that the field tour was a hit!

We had a great time with the NES Grade 5,6 & 7 classes last week!

Students joined NACFOR on a hike on a portion of the Kimbol lake trail, checked out the hot springs source and did some forest education activities and games.

The spot where we stopped on the trail has many large cedar trees, one over 300cm diameter!

Save the Date: NACFOR's Open House on May 21, 2026

NACFOR will host our annual open house on Thursday, May 21st, from 5:30-8pm.
This year, we are hosting at the Wensley Creek Recreation Area (within NACFOR's tenure), where we will have information about the community forest and how it delivers economic, environmental, and social benefits to Nakusp and the area.

We are also offering a field tour in Wensley Creek to show the wildfire risk reduction work and forest management practices employed in that area. The field tour will start at 6pm, meet at the Wensley Creek parking lot.

Join us on May 21st!

Driving directions to Wensley Creek Recreation Area:
Follow Highway 6 to Upper Brouse Road, turn onto Upper Brouse Road and follow it to the top, to the Wensley Creek parking area.
