I'm not trying to look 28. I'm pretty happy taking care of 48.
Growing up, I remember hearing women being asked their age and answering:
“I’m not saying.”
“Guess.”
“None of your business.”
Remember when we were young and would so proudly say,“I’m 8 and a half!” instead of just 8?
Somewhere along the way, we stopped celebrating the number. Maybe it’s time we started again.
Maybe that’s why, at 48, I have no problem saying I’m 48.
Aging isn’t something I want to hide or apologize for.
The thing about working in aesthetics is that you spend a lot of time talking about aging.
Lines.
Volume loss.
Skin laxity.
Collagen.
Hormones.
All the things that start to change as the years go by.
But at 48, I think about aging a little differently than I used to.
I don't look in the mirror and think, How do I make myself look younger?
I think, How do I take care of what I have?
As my body and skin change:
I still want expression.
I still want character.
I still want my face to belong to the life I've lived.
I want to keep enjoying taking care of it.
Maybe aging well isn't about choosing between aging naturally and having treatments and hiding our age.
Maybe it's simply understanding your options, making thoughtful choices, and doing what feels right for you.
I'm not trying to look 28.
I'm pretty happy taking care of 48. 🤍
