I stopped at Rexall yesterday for eye makeup remover and this sign caught my attention.
ADVANTAGE 55+ PARKING.
And my first thought was… interesting.
Not because there’s anything wrong with the sign. For some people, that closer parking spot is exactly what makes getting out possible, easier, or safer.
It did, however, made me think about something bigger.
Just because something becomes available to us as we age… does that always mean it’s the right choice?
If I’m able to walk a little farther, move my body, challenge my muscles, support my health, shouldn’t I?
Oddly enough, that same thought applies in aesthetic medicine.
I have access to so many incredible tools. Neuromodulators. Dermal filler. Skin boosters. Biostimulators. Energy-based treatments. Plastic surgery.
Yet good care isn’t about using every tool simply because it exists.
It’s about discernment.
It’s about asking why.
It’s about knowing when intervention adds value and when it doesn’t.
To be frank, aging isn’t something to “win” against. It’s something to move through thoughtfully.
Just because a sign tells you that you can and a trend tells you that you should doesn’t mean either is the right choice for you. 💚
