Your core isn’t supposed to be braced all day.

When you’re relaxed, your abdomen should be able to expand and move as you breathe. That’s normal.

But there are times when intentionally engaging your core is helpful when lifting something heavy, carrying groceries, getting up from the floor, or creating stability during exercise.

The challenge is that many people have never been taught the difference between a relaxed abdomen and an engaged core.

Understanding when to relax and when to brace is a skill. And like most movement skills, it can be learned.

Most people don’t come in because something is “seriously wrong.”

It’s usually more subtle than that.

They’ve noticed something doesn’t feel quite right when they move, train, or try to get back into exercise.

They’re not looking for a harder routine, they’re looking for things like:
âś… what they can safely keep doing
âś… what might be making things worse
âś… how to return to exercise without guessing
✅ whether what they’re feeling is actually normal or not

The first part of every appointment is all about understanding what’s going on for you specifically

From there, decisions about exercise actually make sense

Kinesiology is not just for athletes or people recovering from injury.

Many of the people who benefit most are simply feeling unsure about how to move forward safely and confidently.

My approach starts with assessment, because your body, history, goals, and movement patterns matter. Rather than using a one size fits all approach, sessions are designed to meet you where you’re at and help you move forward with more clarity and less guessing.

Vanessa Harris Kinesiology offers individualized exercise support for people who want clear direction for their body.

Services include:

• Full Body Analysis (90-minutes)
A comprehensive snapshot of your current movement and physical capacity including posture, strength, mobility, weaknesses, imbalances, and body composition.

• Intake Assessment (60-minutes)
Designed for those starting their journey or working through a specific concern. We’ll discuss your goals, history, limitations, and starting point to create a customized treatment plan.

• Recurring Appointments (60-minutes)
One-on-one guided sessions where we work through your personalized program together with coaching, feedback, education, and progressions as your confidence and capacity improve. A take-home program add-on is available if you’d prefer to exercise in your own home or gym.
