Welcome to Mainstay Tattoo Co. Our doors opened in Summer 2022. We offer full custom and flash tattooing in Downtown Nanaimo, owned and operated by Joel Martin.

Joel began his tattoo career in 2008 at Black and Blue tattoo. Following Black and Blue’s closure in 2021, Joel got to work opening up Mainstay in his hometown. He offers many styles of tattooing, with years of experience and to back it.

Moorea Hum-Spensley has been with Mainstay since the beginning. Moorea grew up in Ontario, and has worked in shops coast to coast with 15+ years experience.

Tyler Caron has been tattooing since 2020, and joined us at Mainstay last year. Tyler has been dedicated to drawing and painting flash for years before tattooing.

Tristen Cathcart grew up in Nanaimo, BC. He joined us at Mainstay Tattoo in Spring 2023, beginning his apprenticeship under Joel Martin.
