Tactical Medical Service (TMS) is seeking compassionate, professional, and motivated healthcare providers to join our growing Non-Emergency Patient Transfer Division serving communities across Vancouver Island.
As a Patient Transfer Attendant, you will provide safe, dignified, and reliable transportation for patients requiring stretcher or mobility assistance. Working alongside healthcare facilities, long-term care homes, private clients, and community partners, you will play an important role in ensuring patients receive exceptional care during transport.
Position Overview
TMS provides non-emergency patient transportation services, including:
• Stretcher transfers
• Wheelchair transportation
• Bed-to-bed patient transfers
• Hospital admissions and discharges
• Medical appointments
• Inter-facility transfers
• Airport and ferry transfers
• Assisted mobility transportation
• Stair-chair and mobility assistance where appropriate
Our Patient Transfer Teams are committed to delivering professional, patient-focused care while maintaining the highest standards of safety and service.
Minimum Qualifications
Applicants must possess one of the following:
• Advanced First Aid (AFA) / Occupational First Aid Level 3 (OFA 3)
• Emergency Medical Responder (EMR)
• Primary Care Paramedic (P*P)
Additionally, applicants must possess:
• A valid EMALB License appropriate to their certification level
• Current CPR-C with AED certification
• Valid Class 5 Driver's Licence
• Clean Driver's Abstract
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Professional appearance and patient-focused attitude
• Physical ability to safely lift, transfer, and transport patients and medical equipment
Preferred Qualifications
• BC Class 4 Driver's Licence
• Previous experience in patient transport, healthcare, emergency services, security, military medicine, or long-term care
• Familiarity with Vancouver Island healthcare facilities and communities
Key Responsibilities
• Provide safe and compassionate transportation for patients requiring non-emergency medical transport.
• Perform stretcher and bed-to-bed transfers.
• Ensure patient comfort, dignity, and safety throughout transport.
• Conduct vehicle and equipment inspections.
• Complete electronic and written documentation accurately.
• Maintain infection prevention and control standards.
• Communicate effectively with patients, healthcare professionals, family members, and dispatch personnel.
• Represent Tactical Medical Service with professionalism and integrity at all times.
Compensation & Schedule
Starting Wage: $25.00 per hour
Compensation may be adjusted based on certifications, experience, and qualifications.
Shift Schedule:
Shift rotations and scheduling options will be discussed during the interview process.
Full-Time, Part-Time, and Casual positions are currently available.
