So many women were taught that being “good” meant being accommodating, selfless, emotionally available, and endlessly responsible for everyone else’s comfort.

And after years of living this way, many reach midlife feeling exhausted, disconnected, and unsure of who they even are anymore.

Not because they’re broken.
Because they’ve spent decades abandoning themselves in small, invisible ways.

This morning I had a small moment that felt much bigger than just swimming laps. 🏊‍♀️

I have always been afraid of water, especially dark, deep water like a lake. I even scuba dived at one point, but the fear was always there underneath it all, and eventually I gave it up.

Since living somewhere with access to a pool, I decided to embrace swimming laps. Last year I still struggled a bit. There was hesitation, anxiety, and that little voice reminding me of all the things that could go wrong.

But this year felt different.

This morning I put on my bathing suit excited to get in. I jumped into the pool, and even the shock of the cold water didn’t stop me. I just started swimming.

A few minutes in, I realized something: the thoughts that I might drown weren’t there.

They simply didn’t show up.

I’m still not ready to jump into a lake. When I think about boating, that same deep, gut-clenching fear is still there. But there is something incredibly freeing about realizing I can feel safe in water.

For the first time in my life, a pool doesn’t feel like something I have to conquer. It feels like a place I can simply be. 🌊

Sometimes healing doesn’t look like a huge transformation. Sometimes it’s just noticing that an old fear got quieter.

As we move through this rare Blue Moon, it can be helpful to pause and reflect on what has been unfolding in your life recently.

At the beginning of the month, we gathered experiences, emotions, insights, and lessons. We lived them. We moved through them.

Now, this second Full Moon of May offers a quieter invitation—not to seek more, but to notice what remains. What themes keep returning? What thoughts continue to ask for your attention?

Not everything needs to be understood immediately. Sometimes clarity comes later, after we've had time to sit with what we've experienced.

This Blue Moon reminds us that reflection is just as important as action. There is wisdom in slowing down, finding balance, and allowing meaning to emerge naturally.
