This time of year always feels bittersweet to me. As we pass the solstice the light starts to wane and this is refllected in the plants! The lush green of spring turns shades of yellow, flowers bloom creating seeds for next season, and the harvest truly begins.
It reminds me to drink in every moment and revel in the cycles of life, death, and rebirth. I hope you do the same.
I am stocked with herbal essentials for summer adventures...

YARROW TINCTURE • Fresh flowering yarrow (Achillea millefolium) in 100 proof vodka convenienty packaged in a spray bottle!
Yarrow used topically, is extremely effective at warding off insects. Studies have compared it in effectiveness to DEET. Protection without the harmful chemicals.
I also use yarrow tincture as a wound spray. It prohibits growth of bacteria cleaning the wound and stopping bleeding.
Energetically it is a herb of protection and can used as a boundary spray.
CALENDULA SALVE • Homegrown calendula blossoms (Calendula officinalis) in olive oil with local beeswax.
These blossoms pack subtle yet powerful actions. They soothe inflammation, calm redness and promote deep cellular healing.
Work with calendula topically for scratches, wounds, eczema or psoriasis - and more!
PLANTAIN SALVE • Garden plantain (Plantago major) leaves in olive oil with local beeswax.
You may know plantain as the w**d to grab when you get stung by a bee or wasp. I have used it this way, leaves chewed up on the spot and applied as a poultice, many times. It truly takes the pain away instantaneously. It is probably growing in your lawn or garden!
The salve is incredible to use on itchy skin of any kind - mosquito bites, nettle stings, hives... oh so soothing.
