If you’re at an impasse or caught in a loop, stop and consider another way through. It’s the 4th day of the waxing moon of Bhadrapada— the auspicious day of Lord Ganesh, the elephant-headed god of wisdom and good fortune, and the remover of obstacles. Beloved of Goddess Parvati in all her , Lord Ganesha clears the path for new life on Earth.

Even in the face of insurmountable trouble and strife, Lord Ganesha brings a good outcome.
Ganesha means “lord of the ganas”, the nature spirits that enliven human imagination and inspire divine intelligence and intuition. He expands consciousness and allows what seems impossible to be possible.

Though he is enormous, he rides a tiny mouse.
Though he has the head of an animal, he is wiser than humankind.
Though he is the cause of obstacles, he is also the remover of them.

And though his day is auspicious, it’s said to be bad luck to look at this crescent moon!
Avoid moon sightings today. (Moonsets 8-9:00 pm tonight, depending on location.)

Eight days until Mabon.

The basket waits, quiet and open, a simple vessel for the season’s abundance. For generations it carried harvests from field, orchard, garden, and woodland, and at Mabon it carries meaning too.

Apples speak of abundance and nourishment. Acorns and pinecones hold the promise of what will grow next. Leaves mark the beauty of change. Cinnamon and herbs keep warmth close and carry the steady energy of prosperity. Wheat stands for reward. Crystals hold light. Feathers tell of movement and messages on the wind. Pumpkins and gourds echo the comfort of enough.

The basket becomes a reflection of the season. A way to notice what arrived. A way to honor what remained.

Perhaps that is where the old magic still lives. Not in what a basket is meant to hold, but in what finds its way inside and the meaning it carries.

As the Autumn Equinox draws closer, even an empty basket feels like an invitation to notice the harvest already around us. The beautiful things. The useful things. The things that changed. The things that endured. The quiet promise of what comes next.
