Wellness Wednesday 🌿

We’re often pretty good at asking other people, “How are you doing?”

But when was the last time you asked yourself?

Not the automatic “I’m fine.”

The real check-in.

How does my body feel today?
What has my mind been dwelling on?
Am I tired, hungry, tense, overwhelmed or maybe actually feeling pretty good?
What do I need more of today?
What could I use a little less of?

Wellness isn’t always about adding another healthy habit to the list.

Sometimes it’s simply paying attention.

Your body gives you information. Your thoughts give you information. Your energy gives you information.

You don’t have to fix everything you notice. You can simply listen and make one small choice that supports you today.

Drink the water.
Step outside.
Eat something nourishing.
Move for a few minutes.
Call a friend.
Put the phone down.
Or give yourself permission to rest.

So here’s your Wellness Wednesday check-in:

What is one thing YOU need today? ❀

đŸŽ™ïž What happens when pain gets the microphone?

When you’ve lived with pain for a while, it can become LOUD.

Every sensation gets analyzed.
Every flare-up can feel like a warning.
And before you know it, pain isn’t just something you’re experiencing, it’s influencing what you do, what you avoid, and even what you believe about your body.

But what if pain doesn’t always mean danger?

Our brains and nervous systems are incredible protectors
but sometimes they can become a little too protective. 😉

In this week’s blog, I’m talking about the connection between pain, fear, movement, our nervous system, and faith, and how we can begin turning down the volume without ignoring what our bodies are telling us.

Because pain may be part of your story.

It doesn’t get to be the narrator. đŸ§ĄđŸ©”

🎉 FRIDAY HAS ENTERED THE CHAT! 🎉

I have successfully survived another week of being an adult.

Did I accomplish everything I planned?
Nope. 😂

Did I get distracted by things that absolutely were NOT on the list?
Obviously.

Did coffee play a significant supporting role?
☕ Without question.

But here we are: FRIDAY! đŸ„ł

So today’s agenda is simple:
☕ Drink something delicious
😂 Laugh at something ridiculous
đŸŽ¶ Turn the music up
🍕 Eat something you didn’t have to cook (highly recommended)
😮 And pretend Monday is a fictional concept.

No deep thoughts today. No inspirational message. No life lesson hiding at the bottom of this post.

Just
 Happy Friday, people! 😁🧡

What’s one completely unnecessary thing you’re doing this weekend purely because you WANT to?

👓 What if the problem isn’t always the life we’re living
but the lens we’re looking through?

Our brains are constantly interpreting what happens around us and sometimes an old belief, disappointment, fear or comparison quietly colours the view.

Same circumstances.
Different perspective.
Very different experience.

Changing your mindset doesn’t mean pretending everything is wonderful. It means learning to separate what is actually true from the story we may have attached to it.

Sometimes we really do need to make changes.

But sometimes?

We don’t need a whole new life.

We just need to clean the lens. đŸ§ĄđŸ©”

đŸŽ” Stronger by Britney Spears

Some days, I really do feel stronger than yesterday.

Other days? Not so much. 😆

And I’m learning that strength doesn’t always mean pushing harder, pretending I’m fine, or somehow finding another ounce of determination when my tank is already empty.

Sometimes strength is admitting, “God, I don’t have enough for this today. I need Yours.”

📖 “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” 2 Corinthians 12:9

But relying on God’s strength doesn’t mean we sit back and do nothing. We can strengthen ourselves too, physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.

đŸ’Ș Move our bodies, even if it’s just a little.
🧠 Pay attention to what we’re feeding our minds.
🙏 Spend time in prayer and Scripture.
❀ Surround ourselves with people who encourage rather than drain us.
😮 Rest when our bodies genuinely need it.
đŸŒ± Keep doing the small things that build resilience over time.

Strength isn’t built in one dramatic moment. It’s often built quietly, through hundreds of little choices.

And maybe being stronger than yesterday doesn’t mean today was easy.

Maybe it simply means that when life got hard, we knew where to draw our strength from.

Today, if your own strength feels a little low, borrow His. ❀

You know that moment when you learn something new and think

How did I get to 60 without ever knowing THAT?! đŸ€ŻđŸ˜‚

That happened to me recently while studying God’s nature. I discovered something fascinating about the ten plagues of Egypt and their connection to Egyptian beliefs, and, naturally, down the rabbit hole I went. đŸ‡đŸ•łïž

But it got me thinking about something bigger: we are never too old to learn.

Learning new things keeps our minds active, challenges our thinking, sparks curiosity and reminds us that there is still SO much out there to discover.

Whether it’s digging deeper into Scripture, picking up a new hobby, taking a course, researching some random question that suddenly becomes a three-hour internet expedition 😝, or finally figuring out something you’ve always wondered about. Curiosity keeps us growing.

My latest blog is about lifelong learning, neuroplasticity, faith and why “I didn’t know that!” might just be one of my favourite sentences.

You didn’t fail.

You missed a day. That’s all. ❀

We have a funny habit of turning one missed walk, one skipped devotional, one less-than-great meal, or one abandoned routine into evidence that we “just can’t stick with anything.”

But one choice doesn’t erase all the choices you made before it.

Building healthy habits isn’t about doing everything perfectly. It’s about making the next choice.

Missed your walk yesterday? Walk today.

Forgot to drink your water? Fill your glass now.

Got out of your routine for a few days? Start again.

No guilt.
No waiting until Monday.
No dramatic announcement that you’re “starting over.” 😂

You’re not starting over.

You’re continuing.

Small choices, repeated often, can change far more than we realize—our routines, our thinking, and eventually, the way we see ourselves.

My latest blog looks at why habits matter more than motivation, how our brains actually change through repetition, and how starting SMALL may be the secret to creating changes that last.

💬 What’s ONE tiny habit you’d like to make part of your life?

I’d love to hear yours. ❀

🌿 Self-Care Sunday 🌿

Sunday reminder:
Unclench your jaw.
Drop your shoulders.
Take a deep breath.
And maybe put the phone down for a little while. (Yes, I see the irony of posting this on Facebook. 😆)
Self-care doesn’t always need to be a bubble bath, a spa day, or something else we have to squeeze onto the to-do list.
Sometimes it’s sitting with your coffee a little longer. ☕
Reading a few chapters of a good book. 📖
Stepping outside and enjoying the fresh air.
Spending time with people, or pets, you love. ❀
Or simply deciding that everything does not need to get done today.
You are allowed to slow down.
Let grace set the pace today.
And if your mind starts reminding you of everything you should be doing, gently remind it that even God rested. 😊
Today, give yourself a little room to breathe.
💬 What does self-care look like for you this Sunday?

đŸŽ¶ Tunes for Tuesday đŸŽ¶

Today’s song is “Brand New” by Ben Rector.

Have you ever noticed how sometimes nothing around you has changed
but you have?

Maybe you finally let go of something you’ve been carrying.
Maybe you chose gratitude instead of worry.
Maybe you took one small step toward a healthier habit.
Maybe you simply decided that yesterday doesn’t get to define today.

Life doesn’t always hand us a brand-new beginning, but we can choose a brand-new perspective.

Science tells us our brains are constantly adapting. Every encouraging thought, every healthy habit, every intentional choice helps strengthen new pathways over time. Change doesn’t usually happen all at once. It grows through repeated moments of choosing hope over defeat.

That reminds me of 2 Corinthians 5:17:

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!”

No matter what yesterday looked like, today is another opportunity to begin again.

So turn up the music, sing a little louder than usual, and let today be the day you choose hope, joy, and a fresh perspective.

đŸŽ” Question for you: If today could feel “brand new,” what’s one thing you’d like to leave behind
and one thing you’d like to embrace?

đŸŽ¶ Tunes for Tuesday đŸŽ¶

This week’s song has been “Heart of God” by Zach Williams, and one line has been sticking with me:

“There’s no shame in looking like a fool when I give You what I can’t keep to take a hold of You.”

I think many of us spend far too much energy believing we have to have everything figured out before we ask for help, from God or from anyone else.

The older I get, the more I’m learning that strength isn’t pretending everything is okay. Sometimes strength looks like admitting you’re tired, asking for support, and trusting that you don’t have to carry every burden alone.

One of my favourite things about Jesus is that people who felt overlooked, imperfect, or like they didn’t measure up were often the very people He welcomed.

Maybe that’s something we all need to remember this week.

💙 What’s a song that’s been encouraging you this week?
