June is National Indigenous History Month 🧡—a time to recognize, celebrate, and honour the rich cultures, traditions, histories, and incredible contributions of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis peoples.

In healthcare, this month is also a powerful reminder of our shared responsibility toward reconciliation. At the MHA, strengthening our reconciliatory efforts remains a core strategic priority. We are deeply committed to ongoing learning, building meaningful relationships, and taking action to ensure culturally safe, inclusive, equitable and trauma-informed care environments for Indigenous patients, families, staff, and communities. As a symbol of this, our Every Child Matters flags will be flying high at both hospitals all month long 🌾✨

Last Thursday, FCHS Foundation staff had the opportunity to meet with first year medical students Lucas A. (pictured, left) and James S. (right) seen here with Dr. Sharma who organized Discovery Week activities at FCHS.

These future physicians from The Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry at Western University spent the week experiencing firsthand the unique and rewarding healthcare environment of a rural hospital. In addition to spending time in the various departments of FCHS, they also enjoyed local activities in the community.

Dr. Sharma remarked that it was a pleasure having the students and he hopes they received some useful information about the importance of quality healthcare, close to home.

Please join us in welcoming our newest Clinical Externs to the MHA team! 👏

Our new extern cohort includes nursing students and a respiratory therapy student who will be supporting patient care teams across our hospitals in the role of Clinical Externs.

Working under the supervision of regulated health professionals, Clinical Externs play an important role in supporting safe, compassionate patient care. Their responsibilities may include assisting with patient mobility and comfort measures, helping maintain a safe care environment, supporting skin integrity and pressure injury prevention, and collaborating closely with nursing teams throughout the hospital.

We are excited to support these future healthcare professionals as they continue to learn, grow, and gain valuable hands-on experience in a clinical setting.

It's that time of year again!
Our friendly Glencoe District Lions Club is out and about selling their annual 50/50 tickets in support of FCHS Foundation.

Tickets are available from Lion Gerald "Ged" Reycraft or please look for the gold Lions' vests around the area every Friday at Glencoe Foodland and rotating Wednesdays at Glencoe Post Office, Glencoe Pharmacy, and McNaughton's Home Hardware.
(FYI- Today at Pharmacy; May 27 at McNaughton's)

Tickets may also be found at FCHS Gift Shop during regular hours
(Mon, Wed, Fri 10-4; Tues & Thurs 10-7).
