.đť Long day at your desk? Your body needs a break too.
You donât need a full workout to feel better during the workday. A few simple stretches can help you move, reset, and bring some much-needed variety to hours spent sitting.
Try these 3 easy workday stretches:
1. đ§ Neck & Upper Shoulder Stretch
* Sit or stand tall with your shoulders relaxed.
* Gently tilt your right ear toward your right shoulder.
* Keep the opposite shoulder down â donât shrug.
* For a little more stretch, gently place your right hand over the left side of your head, without pulling.
* Hold for 20â30 seconds, then switch sides.
* You should feel a gentle stretch along the side of your neck and upper shoulder.
2. đ Chest & Shoulder Opener
* Sit or stand tall and bring your hands behind your back.
* Gently draw your shoulders back and down.
* If comfortable, straighten your arms slightly and lift your hands away from your body.
* Keep your ribs relaxed and avoid arching your lower back.
* Hold for 20â30 seconds while taking slow, comfortable breaths.
* You should feel the stretch across your chest and the front of your shoulders.
3. đ Seated Spinal Rotation
* Sit toward the front of your chair with both feet flat on the floor.
* Cross your arms over your chest or place your hands gently on your shoulders.
* Keeping your hips facing forward, slowly rotate your upper body to the right.
* Pause for 10â20 seconds, breathing normally.
* Return to centre and repeat on the left.
* Move gently â the goal is comfortable movement, not forcing a bigger rotation.
âąď¸ Take 30â60 seconds for each and remember: movement doesnât have to be complicated to be beneficial.
Your body was designed to move â not stay in one position for 8 hours.
Save this post for your next desk break and send it to someone who spends too much time at their computer. đ
