Starting is exciting. Staying consistent is the hard part. 🥲

I recently started strength training, and it’s been a good reminder that progress doesn’t come from motivation, it comes from showing up, especially on the days you don’t feel like it.

The same is true for nutrition. 🧡

It’s also about how you live, rest, connect, cope, and show up for yourself daily. 🌿

Wellness didn’t feel forced here. It was woven into everyday life…….movement, fresh food, nature, rest, and community existing together. 💚🧡

Turns out wellness retreats don’t always look like green juice and calorie counting!! 💚

Health isn’t just nutrients on a label. Sometimes it’s the joy of trying a traditional cod pie in the Azores while sitting around a table with people who make you laugh until your stomach hurts. ☺️🌸

Restriction ≠ wellness.
Connection, pleasure, culture, nourishment, and balance matter too.

Seed oils are one of the most misunderstood topics right now.

Yes, there are papers claiming they cause inflammation and even cancer.
But when you actually break down the evidence (using tools like RADAR), those claims often come from weaker, non-replicated, or biased sources.

Meanwhile, higher-quality evidence shows neutral or even beneficial effects on cardiometabolic health.

As an oncology dietitian, I care about what actually impacts cancer risk and it’s not one single ingredient. It’s your overall diet, lifestyle, and long-term habits.

Don’t let social media fear-mongering distract you from what truly matters. 🧡

This is your reminder:

Carbohydrates are one of the most misunderstood nutrients.

They provide the primary fuel source for the brain and support physical activity through glycogen stores.

Nutrition science isn’t about eliminating entire food groups. It’s about balance, context, and quality.

Whole grains, fruits, legumes, and vegetables all provide carbohydrates along with fiber and essential nutrients.

Food doesn’t need to be feared to be managed well.
