Today, June 21, marks the 30th anniversary of National Indigenous Peoples Day โ a time to recognize and celebrate the rich traditions, cultures, languages, and contributions of First Nations, Inuit, and Mรฉtis Peoples across Canada.
Held on the summer solstice, the longest day of the year, this day carries deep spiritual and cultural significance for many Indigenous communities. For generations, it has been a time of renewal, connection, reflection, and celebration.
The Couchiching region is home to many Indigenous Peoples and communities. As the COHT, we are committed to listening, learning, and growing alongside Indigenous partners and community members in the spirit of reconciliation, respect, and shared understanding.
Today, we celebrate the strength, resilience, and enduring cultures of Indigenous Peoples.
