✨ Hi, I'm Megan, the face behind Beautiful Minds!

With all the new followers lately, I thought I'd introduce myself!✨

A few fun facts about me:

💙 I have NVLD (Nonverbal Learning Disability), which has shaped how I experience the world and fuels my passion for Beautiful Minds and disability advocacy.
🎓I have a degree in Disability Studies and I could talk about neurodiversity for hours!
✍️ I'm currently writing a book about my lived-experiences with NVLD.
🥰My mission is helping neurodivergents to see their gifts and strengths.
🌻I love spending time in nature, it helps keep me calm and grounded.

And here's something fun people don't know about me...

✨🥰 Twilight and Alice in Wonderland are two of my biggest neurodivergent joys and special interests. These stories have been sources of comfort, imagination, and escape throughout my life.

Through Beautiful Minds, my goal is to create a community where neurodivergents feel understood, supported, and a true sense of belonging and at "home". 💙

Now I'd love to get to know YOU!

🌟 Building a Strong, Accessible Canada Starts With Inclusion 🌟

This National AccessAbility Week (May 31–June 6), Beautiful Minds is celebrating the strengths, contributions, and voices of people with disabilities and neurodivergent individuals across Canada.

Accessibility isn't just about removing barriers it's about creating communities where everyone belongs, is valued, and has the opportunity to thrive.

As we recognize National AccessAbility Week 2026, let's continue challenging ableism, promoting understanding, and building a future where accessibility and inclusion are woven into everything we do.

💙 Every mind matters.
💙 Every voice matters.
💙 Every person deserves to belong.

🧠❤ As Brain Tumor Awareness Month comes to an end, I’ve been reflecting on how receiving my brain tumor diagnosis brought back many of the same unknowns and fears I experienced growing up with NVLD.

As someone who had already spent much of my life navigating an invisible disability, I was suddenly entering another world of medical appointments, chronic illness, advocacy, and unknowns.

Once again, I found myself searching for answers in systems that often lacked awareness and understanding.

What made the biggest difference wasn't having all the answers it was finding community.

Community reminded me that I wasn't alone in my experiences. Whether in neurodivergent spaces, disability communities, or among others living with brain tumors and chronic illness, there is something incredibly powerful about being understood without having to explain every part of yourself.

Both my NVLD and brain tumor.
Both came with uncertainty.
Both came with feeling misunderstood.
Both came with navigating systems that often lacked awareness, accessibility, and support.

Both my NVLD and brain tumor journey have taught me that belonging matters. Connection matters. Being seen matters.

This is one of the reasons I created Beautiful Minds and why I continue to advocate for neurodivergent individuals.

Everyone deserves spaces where they feel accepted, supported, and valued.

As Brain Tumor Awareness Month comes to a close, I'm grateful for the communities that have helped me navigate the unknown and for every person who continues to make the world more accessible, inclusive, and compassionate.

To anyone living with a brain tumor, chronic illness, disability, or neurodivergence: your experiences matter, your voice matters, and you deserve a community that reminds you that you do not have to face life's challenges alone. ❤🥰

“There is so much that able-bodied people could learn from the wisdom that often comes with disability.” — Alice Wong

This quote has stayed with me because it speaks to something I see every day in the disability and neurodivergent communities: lived experience is knowledge.

As someone with NVLD (Nonverbal Learning Disability), I've often found that our stories, perspectives, and expertise are overlooked. Yet disability and neurodivergence can teach us so much about resilience, creativity, community, accessibility, and what it means to navigate a world that isn't always designed with us in mind.

In my latest article for the NVLD Project, I reflect on the impact of disability activist Alice Wong and what her work teaches us about visibility, voice, disability justice, and the importance of centering lived experience in conversations about inclusion.

When we listen to disabled and neurodivergent voices, we don't just learn about disability we learn about humanity, belonging, and building stronger communities for everyone.

I'd love to hear your thoughts. What is one thing you've learned from a disabled or neurodivergent person's lived experience?

🧠✨ What is a Neurodiverse-Safe Space?✨🧠

A neurodiverse-safe space is more than just being “inclusive” it’s an environment where neurodivergent people are truly understood, respected, and not forced to mask to belong.

It means:
💬 Communication that is clear and direct
🌿 Sensory needs are considered (noise, lighting, overwhelm)
⏳ No pressure to respond “on time” or in a “typical” way
💛 Differences in social style are accepted, not judged
Flexibility is built in, not treated as an exception

For many neurodivergent people, the world often feels like it was designed without them in mind. A neurodiverse-safe space changes that.

It says:
“You don’t need to change who you are to be welcome here.”

At Beautiful Minds, this is the foundation of everything we do supporting neurodivergent individuals to feel seen, understood, and empowered in a world that often misunderstands them.

🌱 Because when people feel safe, they can finally thrive.

💬 I’d love to know: What helps you feel safe in a space?
