I had a conversation with a friend yesterday about how much judgment women carry about their own bodies… and honestly, it hit deep.

This isn’t new for me. I’ve lived this my whole life. I remember feeling it as early as grade 1.

Body image struggles are not just “insecurities”… they can become an illness if left unchecked. And it’s a heavy way to live.

The truth? I was never what people would have called “overweight.”
But if you told me that back then, I wouldn’t have believed you. I would’ve brushed it off and kept convincing myself I wasn’t enough.

Even 7 years ago… after losing 92 lbs and training for a bodybuilding competition… I still picked myself apart. I still thought I was “too much.”

That’s the part that really makes you stop and think.

Because now… after gaining weight back, walking through health struggles, and fighting to lose it again… I find myself asking:

Is there a lesson here?

As much as I’d love to say, “God, if you help me lose the weight again, I’ll finally love my body”… I can’t honestly promise that.

And that realization humbles me.

What I can promise… is this:
I will keep showing up.
I will keep doing the work.
I will keep learning how to care for the body God gave me… right now, not 20 lbs from now.

Because this body isn’t a punishment.
It’s a vessel.
And it deserves to be treated with respect, patience, and grace… in every season.

I’m not perfect at this. But I’m committed to trying… every single day.

Meal plans get sold like they’re the answer.

Like if you just follow this exact list for 7 days, everything changes.

Truth is… they can help some people, some of the time.

But most of the time? They fall apart fast when they’re too different from your real life.
Because if it’s a drastic shift from how you normally eat, it’s not sustainable… it’s just temporary compliance.

And when life gets busy, stressful, emotional, or unpredictable (which is real life)… you go right back to old patterns.

The real issue usually isn’t the lack of a “perfect plan.”

It’s habits.

What you reach for when you’re tired.
How you structure your day.
How consistent your basics are.
No meal plan can override broken habits long term.

For me, the only non-negotiables?
My whole food capsules daily.
And keeping my lifestyle healthy overall.
That’s my baseline… not perfection, just consistency.

The only time I follow a strict meal plan is when I’m training for a competition,
because at that point, my mindset is different. It’s locked in.

But day-to-day life?

I don’t want rigid rules.

I want healthy options I can actually live with.

We don’t need another extreme reset.

We need simple, repeatable patterns that fit your actual life.

That’s where change actually sticks.

A lot of women hit a point where they swear their metabolism is “broken.”

It’s not usually broken.

But it is changing.

And if you’re in perimenopause, that shift can feel frustrating, confusing, and honestly unfair.

Hormones start to fluctuate. Estrogen drops and rises unpredictably. That can affect how your body stores fat, especially around the midsection.

Energy dips. Sleep gets lighter or broken. Stress hits harder than it used to. And suddenly what used to work… doesn’t seem to work the same anymore.

So you’re doing “all the right things” and the scale still doesn’t move. That’s where the doubt creeps in.

But this is where it matters to go back to basics even harder, not more extreme.

Protein matters more now.
Strength training matters more now.
Walking and daily movement matter more now. Sleep and nervous system calm matter more now than ever before.

And yes, some women do have thyroid or deeper hormonal issues that need support. That’s real and shouldn’t be ignored.

But a lot of the struggle is the body asking for a different approach, not giving up on you.

Perimenopause isn’t the end of progress. It just means you can’t run the same strategy and expect the same result.

You adjust.
You simplify.
You stay consistent longer than your frustration.

That’s when things start to shift again.

Fasted cardio gets hyped like it’s some fat-burning shortcut…

but the body doesn’t work that simply.

Yes, when you’re fasted, your body will lean more on fatty acids because glucose is lower.

But that does not mean it’s only burning fat.

Your body is always using a mix of fuel sources:
fatty acids
stored glycogen
even amino acids (muscle) if needed

It’s constantly adjusting based on what’s available and what you’re asking it to do.

And here’s what people miss…

Breaking down fat is a slower, more complex process.

So when intensity goes up, your body will shift to quicker fuel sources to keep up. That’s why you can’t perform the same way fasted for higher intensity work.

So no, fasting doesn’t magically “burn more fat.”

It just changes what fuel is being used in that moment.

Fat loss is built over your entire day:
your nutrition, your total intake, your movement, your recovery.

What works for one person won’t work for everyone.

I’m not saying fasted cardio is good or bad.

I’m saying understand what your body is actually doing… and then make the choice that fits YOU.

For a long time, I thought I needed to do more…
more restriction, more intensity, more pushing.
But what actually changed my body, my energy, and my health?
Daily resets.
