☀️ Protect Your Skin. Know What to Look For.
Skin cancer can sometimes begin with a small or subtle change in the skin. Knowing your own skin and recognizing changes early is important — especially when it comes to melanoma.
Remember the ABCDEs of melanoma:
A — Asymmetry
B — Irregular Border
C — Changes or variation in Colour
D — Diameter (often greater than 6 mm, but melanoma can be smaller)
E — Evolving or changing over time
Also pay attention to any spot that looks noticeably different from your other moles — the “ugly duckling” sign.
☀️ Protect your skin from excessive UV exposure
🧴 Use broad-spectrum sunscreen
👒 Wear protective clothing and seek shade
🔎 Check your skin regularly
👩⚕️ Have new, changing or concerning lesions assessed by a healthcare professional
A suspicious lesion does not necessarily mean skin cancer, but it is always worth having it properly assessed.
