IN BLOOM TATTOO CO. is seeking guest tattoo artists for the winter and spring season. E-mail us at [email protected] OR [email protected]!

WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU:
- Minimum 2 years experience tattooing in a professional tattoo shop and able to do your own bookings.
- Explicitly and actively working against misogyny, transphobia, homophobia, racism, and fatphobia in actions as well as in mindset in the tattoo space
- Up to date BBP training
- Professional, reliable and fun attitude! We favour a chill, laid back work environment, but always with a good dose of laughter.
- Demonstration of your station set-up before your first client
- Meticulous hygiene standards ( Byron will give you a run through of specifics in case standards differ from your place of origin!)

WHAT WE CAN OFFER:
- An inclusive, trans-owned and operated tattoo space in the true heart of Ottawa’s downtown core. 30 second walk to groceries, dollar store, and great coffee and lunch spots!
- Gorgeous, bright stencil and drawing room
- Business hours are Tuesday - Friday from 10 - 6. We can sometimes accommodate Saturdays.
- An accessibility sensory guide to provide to your clients
- Social media promotion
- All barrier supplies provided (must bring aftercare such as saniderm if you use it, any additional lighting you might need, power supply, machines, and needles). It is suggested to bring your own ink, however Byron is a colour tattoo artist and has hundreds of inks to choose from if you forget or need to borrow some and they are happy to share.
- Super chill flat rate or % options available!

✨ Today is a hugely momentous day! After over a year of diligent and dedicated apprenticeship, I’m thrilled to announce that Co has graduated and joined the ranks of the full Tattoo Artist! While her learning journey doesn’t stop here, I know that I can trust her skill, and intuition in this art form. I can’t express how easy and how wonderful it has been to teach Co this past year. It is so exceedingly rare for an artist to graduate an apprenticeship and so exceedingly rare to find someone this dedicated to excellence and growth in their art across all mediums.

It was very important to me that I select and graduate apprentices that I knew could handle the workload and had the tenacity to see an apprenticeship through. For most of us, this is the hardest thing we’ve ever learned to do and it requires a very special person to be a tattoo artist - you need entrepreneurial skills, good bedside manner, artistic talent, work ethic, and the sheer effing audacity to stick with it. Respect for the history, present, and future of tattooing is of the utmost importance to me and I am highly particular about whom I let into this fold because of it. I only want to give the gift of this career to those who will leave the industry better than they found it, and I believe Co and her particular approach to tattooing is really “it”.

People with enough respect for the trust and intimacy and permanency that the act of tattooing requires along with the necessary work ethic are exceedingly rare and difficult to find. I don’t believe just anyone should be allowed to hold the title of “Tattoo Artist” and Co has earned it in spades. Not only did Co make this her full time job from the get-go, she went above and beyond in ensuring that she was pushing herself while also making room for herself to grow. I trust her implicitly and giving her the gift of the art and career of tattooing is something I bestow on her with levity and honour. I am so excited to watch where you go in this industry and to see how you change it for the better in your own way. Congratulations, friend, meeting you and teaching you has changed me for the better. - Byron J
