We advocate for equity, wellness, bilingual access, leadership, and meaningful student representation from coast to coast. We are a bilingual and pan-Canadian organization advocating for the needs of all nursing students. As a member of CNSA, you have the opportunity to interact with other nursing students on educational, professional, and social levels. CNSA holds annual national and regional conferences and offers lively discussion forums through this web site.

Your experiences belong at the tables where decisions are made—and we are bringing them there. 💙

Today, CNSA President Scarlett Sanabria-Ramos brought nursing students’ concerns directly to Health Minister Marjorie Michel alongside nurse union leaders.

Unpaid placements. Lost income. Rising licensing costs. Graduating ready to care, only to struggle to find a first nursing job. These are the realities students and new graduates are sharing with us—and the realities we are asking decision-makers to address.

Our 2024 national survey with the CFNU found that nearly one in three nursing students considered leaving their programs because of financial pressures. Every student we lose is one fewer future nurse available to care for our communities.

Canada cannot say it needs nurses without supporting the people working to become them. That means financial support through school and real opportunities after graduation—strengthening patient care, local economies and staffing in communities that need us.

Thank you to the Honourable Marjorie Michel, Minister of Health, for meeting with us and listening to the experiences and priorities of nursing students and new graduates.

We hear you. We are bringing your voices forward. And we will keep advocating for your education, your well-being and your future.

Commitment must go both ways.

Votre vécu a sa place là où les décisions se prennent—et nous l’y portons.

Aujourd’hui, la présidente de l’AEIC, Scarlett Sanabria-Ramos, a présenté les préoccupations de la relève directement à l’honorable Marjorie Michel, ministre de la Santé, aux côtés des leaders syndicaux infirmiers.

Stages non rémunérés. Pertes de revenus. Frais croissants d’accès à la profession. Un diplôme en main, mais des difficultés à trouver un premier emploi. Voilà les réalités dont vous nous faites part et que nous demandons aux responsables politiques de prendre en compte.

Notre sondage national de 2024 avec la FCSII révèle que près d’un(e) étudiant(e) sur trois a envisagé d’abandonner son programme pour des raisons financières. Chaque départ représente une personne de moins pour soigner nos communautés demain.

Le Canada ne peut pas réclamer davantage de personnel infirmier sans soutenir celles et ceux qui se préparent à le devenir. Il faut un soutien financier pendant les études et de véritables possibilités d’emploi après le diplôme, pour renforcer les soins et nos communautés.

Merci à l’honorable Marjorie Michel, ministre de la Santé, de nous avoir reçu(e)s et d’avoir écouté les expériences et les priorités des étudiant(e)s et des nouveaux diplômé(e)s en soins infirmiers.

Nous vous entendons. Nous portons vos voix. Et nous continuerons à défendre votre formation, votre bien-être et votre avenir.

Bringing nursing student voices to the table. 💙

CNSA President Scarlett Sanabria-Ramos joined fellow CFNU National Executive Board members for today’s meeting with Health Minister Marjorie Michel.

She highlighted the financial pressures facing nursing students, barriers to new graduate employment and CNSA’s federal budget request for $300 million over five years to support students during their final clinical practicum.

Investing in future nurses is investing in the communities they will care for.

La voix de la relève infirmière à la table des décisions. 💙

La présidente de l’AEIC, Scarlett Sanabria-Ramos, s’est jointe aux membres du Conseil exécutif national de la FCSII pour rencontrer aujourd’hui la ministre de la Santé, Marjorie Michel.

Elle a souligné les pressions financières vécues par les étudiant(e)s, les obstacles au premier emploi et notre demande budgétaire fédérale de 300 millions de dollars sur cinq ans pour soutenir la relève pendant le stage clinique final.

Investir dans la relève, c’est investir dans les communautés qu’elle soignera.
