When do conversations about pleasure, desire, arousal, intimacy become part of the healthcare conversation?
As clinicians we are trained in the science and the clinical picture. But what if the conversations always end up being about the “why” and not about the how.
The why is critical. We can (and we do) shout from the rooftops about why vaginal estrogen is safe and effective for women. Why every woman needs to understand that the loss of estrogen drives physiological changes to the tissues and environment that can lead to changes in sensation, comfort, arousal, urinary frequency, and so much more.
What if the conversations always end there. Which is often what can happen.
What about the how. What kind of product should a woman chose? How should she apply it? Where should she apply it?
As healthcare providers if we shy away from the how then we are leaving out patients to figure it out on their own.. and if we feel embarrassed about talking about it imagine how the patient feels.
Intimacy Coach We are cooking up something exciting for the fall that touches on just this. Stay tuned .
